Dress codes?

Formal is whatever you want it to be. Cruise casual too. On a formal night you will see dresses, jackets, ties, polo shirts, khakis, t-shirts, jeans, and shorts. Same goes for cruise casual. It's completely up to the individual. The only thing that will keep you from being allowed in the Main Dining room is swimming attire, and tank tops for men. (Something about visible arm pits) The opportunity is there to have a professional photo taken if you wish $$$. This is the only thing that can play into your decision on what to put on. Again, that's optional and for a fee. Basically, You do you. Enjoy.

Could somebody clarify the dress code meanings for dinners.  How formal is formal, cruise casual etc.

Most, but not all guests, strive to dress their best on formal night, whatever that is for them. Unless you lose luggage, as we have done, you should wear something nice, as if you are going out to dinner. In doing so, you reinforce the notion it's a special night. But there is no pressure, no requirement for ties, coats, gowns, etc. Just try to be adult! Happy cruising--Royal just cancelled our next cruise.

These are Royal’s official dress code guidelines… as everyone will tell you, they are suggestions, not mandatory:
