She was telling me that they sometimes get some pretty significant discounts on cruise fares because they gamble. Is this common in the industry? If you don't enjoy gambling as a form of entertainment, I wouldn't recommend gambling for the sake of trying for discounts. However if you do enjoy gambling, then yes you can get offers for discounts and even complimentary cruises. There are restrictions and the offers aren't always combinable with current sales, so the offers may not be as great as you are imagining. You earn points by playing and will get a free interior room for 7 nights if you reach 2500 points in a year while getting free drinks in the casino. 1 point = $5 bet on slots, $10 bet on videopoker and then table games depends on time and average bet. Seems like a lot, but you have to factor in the winnings as well While onboard you can earn discounts or even free cruises depending on how much you play! So if you find it fun its also a good way to get access to cheap or free cruises! They even send you offers ongoing which might be discounts or free cruises as well - however its on selected itinaries outside holidays My last cruise i made 3300 points and got a free 7 night oceanview cruise for two with the Symphony of the Seas on September 3rd this year. I spent $1500 total that cruise and had tons of fun! And then I also got Prime again (2500 points) which means I also got an additional 7 night interior room I can book for free later + free drinks for a year inside the casino on any RC cruise! Am I reading that correct? Yes you can get a free cruise on select itinaries (tons to choose from during the entire year)! If you book onboard with nextcruise you get the bonus listed in that column! If you dont use that one you have 30 days to use it at home without the nextcruise bonus. You can also pay the $200 deposit while onboard and book when you get home and keep the bonus! You only have to book the complimentary earned sailing onboard for 1,500 points if you want the bonus $100 freeplay. Otherwise you can wait til after the cruise and you'll have 30 days to book it. The list of cruises for that one is much more limited. I always tell people who are trying for Prime, if they are flexible and can cruise often, try to split up the 2500 points over multiple cruises to earn the extra instant certificate bonus cruises. That's great if your cruise started on January 1st or so and you can cruise again in January, February or a short portion of March, however if you sail on lets say January 19th you have already missed 2 weeks of the offered cruises to choose from. There is a facebook group you can join to learn more about Royal Caribbean casino. Join and read, a lot, before asking questions there, they can be snarky! There's a fellow on there named Doug Swallow, who posts the instant cruise certificate sailings based onpoints earned. Those certificates start with the year, month, letter (based on length of cruise) and a number (based on the point offer). So this month is 2301A (for shorter sailing)08 for the 800 point list of sailings. 2301A08 you could also type the offer code in the search feature of the facebook page and likely pull up the results easier.
