cousinstravel
We are going September 2. How is skagway with the damage? We have a train at 8 am.
billdauterive
I was there last week and didn't see any damage. There was a noticeable net around the end of the pier where I assume the earlier slide had happened. The train still left from the end of the pier, but the departure time was moved from 8 to 9 on embarkation day.
smokeybandit
The damage wasn't as much the issue a them needing to put up protection to mitigate any further slides.
motoviper
I saw they had a city meeting on this yesterday with inspectors. It doesn’t look good that anything can be done soon. I wonder how/if this will have any serious impact on our call in 10 days?
Ryan Breneman
I was there Monday the 18th on Ovation. Cruise director said the previous week was the first Ovation was able to dock at the normal pier after they cleaned up the rockslide from June. It was my first time there so nothing to compare to but it was an easy walk off and into town. No tendering or anything needed.
