There is sometimes an issue with sea grass but they generally do a good job of keeping that cleaned up. I recommend the Krazy Lobster. They will get loungers and tables for you and there are some awesome hammocks there. The beer and food is very affordable ($1 Cornonas !). If you do decide to go to the beach at Mahaual, and decide that you want to get a massage on the beach, do not let anyone "arrange" a massage for you. Find your own masseuse and make your own deal. The person doing the "arranging" will just double the cost and keep half for themselves. You should pay no more than $25 for 1 hour massage. Well worth it. The only downside to the beach at Mahaual is that there are lots of roving vendors selling their trinkets. They are at you constantly but they are NOT aggressive. Just politely tell them "no" and they will move one. There is always another behind them. It's annoying but not enough to keep us from going there.
