Usually, the guide explains what not to do (as to avoid being stung). Is this from personal experience. ;) Matt is correct. These excursions usually go to areas where the stingrays are quite tame. In addition, the rays only sting when threatened, which usually happens when you step on them. rjac Posted October 28, 2016 Report Share Posted October 28, 2016 I've done this one also. Don't take it personal if the rays don't come around you. They know who has the food and who will feed them (hint, the guides). But, the guides will show the more adventurous how to feed the rays.
