Amps2cruise
On the redployment of Mariner OTS, the announcement also included refund of airfare, have not seen this with other cancellations.. Will this be the new trend? will we see this for future cancellations?
Matt
They've done this periodically with some cancellations. Not always a thing. Depends on the circumstances.
twangster
Welcome to the message boards. In the past it was common for airfare booked through Air2Sea to be refunded or in some cases Royal would offer compensation when air travel was booked directly to cover change fees. This stopped short of full refunds of airfare booked directly but it did cover change fees. Change fees have been waived or eliminated by many US airlines since the pandemic. twangster
Air2Sea is a program to book flights through the cruise line but it isn't available around the world. It's predominantly a USA/Canada program. In my opinion international air travel has the potential for a lot of unknowns not only now but into 2022, especially early in 2022. Consider options that cover you in case things don't work out as we would all like for a cruise that require international flights. Talk to the airlines, make sure you understand refund policies and fees they charge.

Allen2
Thought on airfare: if you have airline miles, use miles to book. In most cases, easy to obtain full refund of miles, occasionally with a fee involved.
