MKLINK
As an avid fan of Indy I check the Web Cam every so often to see where she is while counting down to the next cruise. It was up and running the entire time she was in europe but since she is heading back to the states it has not updated since their first day under way. I was wondering since it was a European RC site, are they dropping support? I would enjoy RC having Web Cameras on their entire fleet. I am sure the expense isn't worth the cost. But it would still be cool to drop in on your favorite vessel. https://www.royalcaribbean.co.uk/our-ships/independence-of-the-seas/live-camera/
twangster
Many Royal ships used to have webcams. Oasis had three for example. They’ve gone away over time. I guess Royal has decided to eliminate them.
Matt
Web cams, in general, were a "fad" in the early part of the internet that has largely gone away as @twangster noted. I can think of a variety of reasons they have gone away, chief among them maintenance/upkeep. It's not a ton of work to keep a webcam going, but computer updates/reboots/etc are all things that take someone away from something else. MKLINK
I am thinking with the advent of internet streaming services becoming more reliable these fads may make a comeback. Just my opinion. PTZ TV on Roku is always fun to watch or just put up on the Gigantic Screen as living artwork.
Atlantix2000
It could also be a privacy issue. I'm sure somewhere in the cruise contract we agree to be on security cameras all over the ship but does it say anything about letting the whole world see us on the ship? MKLINK
I do remember during specialty cruises they would go dark for the duration.
