Anyone know of a monkey interaction venture? For Cozumel, I would recommend the Amazing Secret River near Playa del Carmen, which requires a ferry ride to the mainland. It is very physical -- you hike/swim through caverns, crawl through one or two openings and dodge pot holes in the limestone. But if you can manage the activity, it's great. Our tour came with a "snack" which was actually a full lunch. There are lockers and showers if you bring a change of clothes. For Jamaica, Dunn's River Falls, another physical hike, is a great experience. You climb up the falls with a guide, get soaking wet in cold water, might scrape a leg as you climb, but have a delightful time. Neither of these excursions could be done in the US because of, well, the risk of injury when you are my age. But I did live to tell about it. High unemployment in Jamaica, so lots of folks trying to hustle you wherever you end up. Stay with your group and no problem. We also did a dolphin swim, but press lately is that dolphins are too confined, so don't know how you would feel about it. Still have the picture of my 16 year old son being kissed by a dolphin. Labadee is a relaxing beach day, and I was able to snorkel off the beach. However, it's mostly sea grass. Next time I'll try something else. Lots of shopping for hand-made crafts there. Bon voyage! PS. Saw monkeys in Roatan at the eco-park. Some will hop on your shoulder.
mom2mybugs
We really enjoyed nachi coccum in cozum. It's booked online, not with RC, but they cap the number of people and they service is great. In labadee we got the beach loungers for two (the clamshells) and absolutely loved it! Jane
