  1. Thanks. I just have to plan for the bad stuff I'm going to eat, because I'm going to eat some. I already know it.
  2. But of course! I'd order it through room service, but I'm not paying $7.95 for that!
  3. I know a lot of people like the MDR for breakfast as it's more service oriented and laid back than let's say the Windjammer, but compared to lunch and dinner, I'm not overly impressed with the menu. I know it's just breakfast, but it seems to lack a little imagination and variety. Where's the bcarney special?
  4. I guess that works if you are "impressed" by someone wearing pants and a shirt! Those are pretty much the same dress requirements to walk into a 7-Eleven! Plus the shoes of course.
  5. I used to work in hotels years ago and the practice above is pretty standard. If we overbooked our hotel, as most hotels do at certain times because there is a certain amount of expected no-shows, and we did not have a room for a guaranteed reservation, we would send them to another local hotel and pick up the charge. This is fairly common practice in the hotel industry.
  6. You should combine the two and make tiramisu pancakes! Check the internet, I've seen recipes.
  7. I say this because I'm trying to work on this same thing myself. A month after booking our first cruise I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Have to look at cruising and eating in a whole new light now. Down 14lbs in a month, so I'm off to a good start.
  8. When a restaurant lists a "closing" time of 9pm, does that mean they are only open till then, or is that the last seating?
  9. We're going to be on Serenade, so most likely, under the window. Just wondering as my wife is funny sleeping away from home, if the bed is in a different position, as it relates to the rest of the room. Don't ask.
  10. I was looking online for some sample menus and ran across an RC drink menu for the 70's I think. Most of the drinks were listed at $1.40 with some at $1.00! Had to laugh. Those must have been some fun cruises back in the day!
  11. Eat because you are hungry, not just because it's time to eat.
  12. That would look great with a pair of those "beach boots" PRC posted in the "General Cruise Attire" thread!
  13. My wife also like a good cannoli, so I'm sure she might order it. Or the tiramisu. Or both. That's what cruising is all about, right? Did you know that tiramisu is Italian for lift me up?
  14. We chose MTD for a simple reason, we could eat when we wanted and with who we wanted. We will be on the cruise for our 27th wedding anniversary, so I know we will be eating, just the two of us quite a bit. But we also have the option of being seated with others, if we choose. But we have the control.
  15. I agree. It doesn't bother me one bit. If people want to dress in something, lets say, "less formal" who cares. Does it it really have that much of an impact on your enjoyment? Maybe all those people who "dress up" on the other nights of the cruise should be looked down upon! Who do they think they are, trying to show everybody else up by dressing all fancy! You should always dress to please yourself, not others.
  16. I've seen in various pictures, that the beds aren't always in the same place in all cabins. We have a ocean view and if the "king" bed we requested isn't in a spot we like, say right under the window, can and/or will the steward move the bed for us? Is this something we can request ahead of time?
  17. I agree. This was a sad story, but s**t happens, and you have to plan for the unexpected.
  18. Good to know, cruising on Serenade in Oct.
  19. I love grits! I guess on that cruise though, you had to settle for bangers and mash, or toad in a hole, or bubble and squeak, or even spotted ...never mind about that one.
  20. Anybody tried the new upgraded room service menu yet? Worth the $7.95?
  21. I can see it now. Ports of call Pittsburgh, PA, Wheeling, WV, Paducah, KY, Evansville, IN. Now that's an itinerary!
  22. What does Capt. Barbosa say in Pirates of the Caribbean, "The code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' more than actual rules." I guess that pretty much sums it up.
  23. You do have the Ohio river, so technically, you aren't landlocked.
