  1. Wow , looks like you had agreat time in Alaska.

Alaska is on my list of must do cruises so I enjoyed reading your review. The excursions you did sound awesome especially the snorkeling and the Helicopter ride. Shame the cruise director wasn't doing his job properly , sounds like he needs a change of career.

Don't miss the worlds longest (1 mile +) zip line if you port in Icy Strait Point / Hoonah, its unbelievable. As I recall about 1 hour + bus ride up the mountain & something like 1 minute down - a lot more exilerating coming down. Views from 2000ft top are awesome & overlook your ship. Its a bucket list adventure!

  2. Not just back, but did Honolulu-Vancouver Crossing in May on Rhapsoday. 2 nights in Honolulu, 5 addition nights in the islands, 5 nights at sea crossing with a port day at Victoria. She does the reverse reposition in the Fall. Fabulous trip, highly recommend! Great Hawaii ports, great ship & crew, love the sea days(a little rough a couple of days) & Victoria is one of those places like San Francisco that is always exciting.

  3. Haha that is great! Ok, so that means you have to eat at Giovanni's Table so you can try the tiramisu. I will say, the tiramisu in the main dining room, which is traditionally served on Italian night (don't remember what the name for that night is on the menu - every night's menu has a different name to it) is pretty good too!

LOL Sorry Don. I'm just passionate about cruising and dessert!  ;) What ship are you going on next?

We're doing NE/Canada with a RCI competitor in Oct, & then back to RCI Serenade out of Barcelona May 2014 for our 1st Med trip.

  4. Port Carnaveral -- Drivable with a hotel stay over & free parking & free shuttle to ship & least congested port. Plus, the deals on 4 night Bahama get aways can be incredible beyond belief -- it's a go often & and do your own thing kind of destation! The older ships are a breath of fresh air as well. The Captain of the Monarch described Her as once the biggest ship afloat & now a tug boat -- hated to see her go into retirement.

  5. Dire emergency on Song of America out of Cozumel -- cruise aborted, limped back to Miami; so why is that memorable? Unbelievable Staff & Crew emergency response & management, and fantastic recovery for a fun filled trip back to Miami, albiet listing rather badly under one engine power. Early back in port = no dock space, no problem, drop anchor off-shore and party for two days with great Miami sky line view & flotila of local boaters checking us out. Just another RCCL (at the time) basic success story -- Staff & Crew excelled with front face like nothing happened! Been a RCL fan ever since.
