I don't know offhand the specifics.  Certainly your travel agent can confirm the stateroom category. Also keep in mind the room recategorization occurs on sailings on or after May 6, 2018, so what it is today might differ after that date next year. It depends on your sailing.

Thanks @Matt  The sailing I've booked what I think is an A2 (Deck 10 Aqua Theater Suite) is for early 2019 on Allure of the Seas.  I will check with RCCL directly on my question since I booked this directly through them.  BTW: I'm not opposed to moving the reservation to a Travel Agency if there is an incentive to do so.

Let's be clear. Category A1 & A2 are Star Class.

A3 and A4 are Sky Class.

These changes will go into effect beginning with the new 2018/2019 deployment. For Oasis of the Seas, the effective date is May 6, 2018.

Here is where I got all this info: http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/General_Info/17055586_Recat_Sales_FAQs.pdf

Thanks @Matt.  Also just for clarification, on Oasis Class ships is the following accurate?

    A1 (8330, 8730)
    A2 (9330, 9730, 10330, 10730)
    A3 (11330, 11730)
    A4 (12330, 12730)

You mentioned not knowing if it's Star Class.  Just a reminder they revamped the suite classes and cut some rooms from the genie program if I read it right (I could be totally wrong) you might want to double check.

Well that would stink if I booked a room thinking it had Genie and ended up not having genie.  However for my sanity, I just doubled checked the FAQ on the Royal Suite Class website. and saw the following: ( I booked 10330 on Allure so I think I'm good, at least for now)

Royal Suite Class offers three tiers of accommodations, based on the suite category, Star, Sky, and Sea.

    Star

    • Royal Loft Suite
    • Owner’s Loft Suite
    • Four Bedroom Family Suite (Harmony of the Seas only)
    • Grand Loft Suite
    • Sky Loft Suite
    • Two Bedroom AquaTheater Suite (Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Decks 8, 9, 10)

    Sky

    • Crown Loft Suite
    • Owner’s Suite
    • Royal Family Suite
    • Superior Grand Suite
    • Grand Suite
    • One Bedroom AquaTheater Suite (Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Decks 11, 12, 14)

    Sea

    • Family Junior Suite
    • Junior Suite
    • Spa Junior Suite

*Staterooms vary by ship class. Stateroom categories and suites are subject to change without notice.

That's a killer deal! Lucky!!!  I have a JS booked on Oasis for 3 people...not even close to that price ?.   Then again, I booked for the itinerary and am willing to pay the extra (plus I have 2 years to save).

Yea, I thought it was too good of a deal to pass up, regardless of ports of call.  Now the $8000 for 2 people in the A2 I *think* is a great price for that room too from what I've seen.  I have almost 2 years to figure out how to come up with the money to pay for that one too.  Or recruit another couple to go with me to use the second bedroom and split the cost with me.  I'm actually really surprised they let me book an A2 with only 2 people.

  5. @abnermkd Thanks for your response.  I'm looking at booking an A2 on Allure so I believe that is Star Class.  I'm looking forward to the experience and was just trying to get accurate expectations.  I understand that the genie service is complimentary with Star Class, however would the Cabana also be complimentary if reserved through the Genie or would that be an extra cost?

  6. For those of you who have had the pleasure of experiencing the Royal Genie service, what kind of requests did you make from your Genie.  What kind of requests (if any) did you have to pay extra for on top of your cruise fare?  Just trying to get an idea of what to expect from a Genie and what experiences (if any) I would have to expect to receive from them for an extra cost.  I don't mind paying for things, I'm just curious what I would be paying a "price" versus a "gratuity" for.

But that is still not a bad price.  I have a 2 BR ATS booked for the group cruise in Sept (blog group cruise) on Harmony and that is basically what I paid for Deck 9.

IMO the Star Class perks are worth the high price tag.  My first 2 BR ATS suite was on Allure in Feb, of this year.  We paid what would be the equivalent of $4K pp and we reserved this room back before they even had the Star Class service so for the prices to still be right around the same price I paid when I booked in Sept. 2015 is fairly amazing, IMO.

I say book it while you can and then if you change your mind you can always cancel.  I think that is a very reasonable price.  And OBTW, if they are selling a 2BR ATS to 2 people you should take advantage of that IMMEDIATELY !  They have restricted those rooms to a minimum of 5 people and if one is on the website for less than 5, it is a mistake...and it will not be there for long.

That's what I thought as well about it being restricted to more than 4 people.  However I saw it as available on the website a little while ago and called RCI to book it :-).  We are likely going to add my son to the reservation and/or find another couple to use the other bedroom to split the cost.

Yes !!!  That sounds like a very good deal.  Is it on Deck 8, 9 or 10 ?  If it's on deck 8, then you REALLY should jump on it.

It's stateroom 10330 so I guess it's the smallest of the Star Class ATS rooms.  But it's really tempting for that price to have Genie, Included Mini Bar, Included Beverage Package, Included Specialty Dining, and Included Prepaid Gratuities...along with all the other benefits that I got with Sky Class 3 weeks ago in my OS on Oasis.

  9. So, what's in a name?

Each of the classes of ships have names that...well..."go together" for the most part... or do they?

Freedom class.... Freedom, Independence, and Liberty... all synonyms for, well...Freedom.

Voyager class... Voyager, Navigator, Mariner, Adventure, and Explorer... all synonyms for people who venture out and explore stuff...

Then the lines start to blur a little bit...

Radiance class... Radiance, Jewel, Brilliance, and Serenade...  Radiance/Jewel/Brilliance sound "shimmery", and Serenade is just kind of an odd-ball one that's just tacked on on the end...

Vision class... Vision, Enchantment, Grandeur...to me, in my mind I think "big looking" - but then we can't forget Rhapsody, which is a style of a musical piece..

Then the lines blur even more...

Oasis class.... Oasis, Allure, Harmony, and now Symphony... Oasis and Allure really don't have much of anything to do with each other... but Harmony and Symphony are both "musical" in nature... so in theory, the next Oasis class ship... might it going to be something else entirely, or some other word from the musical milieu?

Quantum Class... I have no idea. Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation.... Anthem is a musical style, Ovation is when you're standing up and applauding at the end of something you're amazed at, and Quantum... is..kind of "sciencey"

So... what do you all think about Royal Caribbean's naming strategy... it seems like there maybe, at one time, was a rhyme or reason to it... are they abandoning said rhyme or reason? Should there be one? I like the consistency with naming within the class, certainly helps me remember the names of the ships.

"Passion of the Seas" and "Pulse of the Seas" will be the next 2 Quantum (Actually, Quantum-Plus) Class ship names.

RCCL also holds rights to "Vantage of the Seas"

  10. Thank you for taking the time to respond.. Lots of great info.  Whilst I was out, I wondered how it would work with two staterooms. The ages in the stateroom will be 23, 22, 18 and 17 so curious if we will be able to get pictures from both into 1 package.

So basically the USB contain the full HD photo with no restrictions on use..

Is the "Picture This" only bookable on ship..  I do not see any obvious links to it..

Here is an explanation on how families traveling in multiple staterooms will work:  https://support.ourcruisephotos.com/support/solutions/articles/30600-families-traveling-together-in-multiple-staterooms

  11. wondering if either of you recall what the onboard cost was. Trying to decide if I should pre-pay... I buy these no matter what because otherwise, I never end up in any photos! Pre-pay cost for me is $159... I don't want printed. I'll do that myself. Thanks! (its also super nice to read positive comments about getting the package... its usually negative about what a waste it is which I completely disagree!)

I think the price is different (both pre-cruise and onboard for different sailings), however on my last cruise on Oasis I think I remember the on board price of the all digital package being about $50 higher than the pre-cruise price.  I feel the package is a great value as my wife and I (and now my son our next cruise) are usually hams to the cameras :-).  Our cruise photos have always turned out really, really good and paying that price for the all digital package is no more than paying for a professional photo session back home.
