  1. When will we be able to book our shows (we cruise July 16th).  This is all new to me, as we never had to before (yes, it's been WAY TOO LONG) as they had 2 shows so that the early dinner crowd saw the show after dinner and the later dinner crowd saw their show before dinner.  We have late seating for dinner so I don't even know what time the shows are.

We cruise June 4th and I booked mine last week.

  2. We have this booked, but I'm having second thoughts about it. It would be awesome to see the ruins, but Matt is right, there's a lot of travelling back and forth and it seems like it would consume the whole day.

I'm leaning (and convincing my wife) to do the Xplor Park instead. Only an hour away from the port opposed to the almost 4 hour drive to Yucatan. Not to mention you get ziplines, amphibious vehicle rides, underground caverns to paddle a boat around, plus food. Last time I checked it was 199 PP in the RCL website, but saw one on XPlor's main website for half the price (you just need to find a way to get there) Hope everything works out for you and hope you find something great!

How long do you actually spend at Chichen Itz? I get that the time to get there and back is long but just curious.

  3. Unless you are in My Time Dining, there's nothing to book ahead of time, in terms of complimentary meals.

Unless I am eating in a specialty restaurant, I eat in the MDR for dinner. To me, it is a big piece of the cruise experience.

Thanks. We are listed as my time. I was worried that 5:30 was too early on excursion days and 8 might be too late haha. But I'll take your advice on that.

  4. If you're a wine drinker, remember you're allowed two bottles per cabin. So if you children are in their own cabin, you can bring on two additional bottles.

My wife drinks mixed drinks (and wine) and a lot of coffee so I know I'll get her the plan. Me? I don't drink coffee and mostly drink beer.

  5. Not sure if this is your first cruise or your first cruise on RC but not wanting to sound like a broken record I always like to warn first cruisers about having the right paperwork(IDs) and Dont be late embarkation day or coming back from the port stops....I m sure you will have a wonderful time!

I've been on a cruise but it's been a LONG time ago. Like 15 years haha but if there's anything I do, it's prepare. I'll have our passports and such for sure and I'll be at the "dock" as early as possible. I loathe being late! haha

  6. I wouldn't say the two cruise lines are equal, but for the price difference they're close enough. Disney is a bit more inclusive and has better and more extensive kid and family programming. I also like the dining a bit better on Disney. However, these differences have not led me to book Disney in the last few years as I find Royal to be a better value overall.

I could see that. I'm just not going to spend that much more on a Disney cruise. I'd probably grab a quick 3 day DCL cruise if it was a decent deal. I'm within 6 hours of Port Canaveral, so not too far to do a last minute trip.

  7. I'm taking my wife, oldest daughter and her friend on a 7 night Western Caribbean Cruise that leaves June 2017! This is to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation! We had normally taken 10-12 day trips yearly to Walt Disney World but after the constant price increases and the desire to do something new for our daughter's trip, we went cruise shopping. I'd always heard RC was about equal to the Disney Cruise Lines except where it mattered: price! haha I just couldn't get myself to pay DCL prices!

Now to somehow get these 415 days to pass quickly. haha
