I just looked at mine and it was $544 and change, so roughly $17/device/day. I personally think there should be a room rate unlimited device price scheme. Sure this would mean suites would get a better deal since they can have more ppl, but the suite ppl are also paying a premium already. $30/room per day would be a lot more reasonable IMO. But then again making as much money as possible is not my goal here. I am guessing this will only happen when the free market allows me to purchase starlink directly on a daily or weekly basis so I can compete with the cruise lines. If there were individual options out there we wouldn't be able to be robbed like this. I just don't know how starlink works. I assume devices cannot connect directly to it. You need a receiver then modem/router to create a LAN which you can connect to. Someday though the option might exist for direct connection globally.

Yes and no. For one I have heard it is crap... Delayed and missed messages etc. Second, I have a 12 yr old and they cannot sign up for an account on the app. They have to be over 13. Which is fine for my other 2 kids but not my youngest.

I just got voom for 4 devices and I have to say the price for the package is just ridiculous. I know I don't "need" to buy it, but with my kids on board it is a must to be able to communicate with them. But nearly $600 for 8 days is absurd. It just feels like another money grab by RC. I won't pretend to know what RC's costs for starlink are, but surely it's way above what they charge.

2 weeks, can't wait. Time to start packing!

My symphony trip in two weeks is going to Falmouth...yuck. That's ok. I will get off the ship for an hour or so and then get back on and enjoy an emptier ship. The kids will enjoy less lines at the waterslide, and I will take advantage of the deluxe drink package.

I am actually surprised it will take that long.

Sounds like suicide.... A good friend of mine in college did this same exact thing on the Carnival Destiny back in 99 or 2000. The cruise was a graduation gift from his parents. He got trashed and broke down to his friend on board said he couldn't go on any longer... Walked to the back of the ship and jumped. He was never found.

Ok, I looked it up. So someone has a lot of disposable income. To me the big deal isn't that someone is rich/stupid enough to buy it. The big deal is that he is leaving a $100k cup sitting on a table at a beach.

I called this afternoon, talked with a rep then sat on hold for about 10 mins. When she came back she said your all set, check your account. I logged into the website and sure enough my $600 was sitting there in my planner. I feel a lot better now

Agreed, if I can be on ship by 1100, grab a specialty coffee and a quick bite to eat then I am in heaven. Then you have all the time in the world to explore the ship, get the lay of the land. Then it's time to find a refreshing cocktail and start the relaxation.

Ugh... I am on symphony in 2 weeks and have an 1130 board (the earliest available). I check out of my hotel at 10, so plan to be at the cruise port around 1030. Sitting in the terminal with a 15, 13 and 11 yr old telling me they are board doesn't sound fun. But it is what it is, hopefully it will just build the excitement to get on the ship.

Maybe I am just an outlier here, but I would never take a COVID test on a cruise ship. If I didn't feel well I'd stay in my room and when I felt better I would go back out. Last thing I would want is to be quarantined on a cruise ship. Are people actually still afraid of COVID?

I hope they are fluff because I got 1130 on. Symphony in 2 weeks, it was the earliest time. But my hotel checkout is 1000. So I will be in line at 1030.
