Thanks everyone for your responses. I'll try to reach out to RCCL and see what I can do, but I'm not willing to risk losing out. This is only 1 of 2 excursions that we've booked & I have FOMO. I mean, after waiting so many years to start cruising again and many months to set sail & visit PDCC for the 1st time, I'd rather control what I can control. My version of Risk Management if you will.

In the event an excursion has a lower cost pp at the time of sailing, are you allowed to get the difference back if you pre-paid? We've booked the Jet Ski at PDCC and are now seeing the price is lower. I am afraid I'll lose out if I try the old cancel and rebook trick because it is a sold out event.

I've been a Floridian for over 53 years. Didn't experience my first hurricane til 1979. Pretty pedestrian until 2004 when Charley paid a visit from south to north, the first of the 'tropical trifecta' (Charley, Frances, & Jeanne) in a 6 week period. That sucked, no power for 7 and a half days, 5 days, and 18 hours respectively. Then relatively quiet in the central peninsula til last year when Ian came to call. Not so much wind, but over 2' of rain in our locale in 96 hours..........oof!!! Mrs. Geezer (native) has regaled me with stories of Donna back in 1960. And there was the non hurricane 'Storm of the Century' in March 1993.
BTW Big Karl, if you do move here and find yourself homesick perhaps Ma Nature can conjure up an earthquake. Yeah, that's happened, October 1973. Was taking the future Mrs. Geezer home and we were stopped at an intersection in Melbourne, Fl. when the car started rockin'......no, not from THAT!!!
Was a magnitude 3.9 as I recall was comically referred to as the Merritt Island Earthquake.
DO NOT wish that upon us. There isn't much beneath the asphalt, so we'd all fall into the ocean brother!

I love living in Florida, but the insurance prices are a bit much, so that is something to strongly consider. As for where to live, that depends on your tolerance level. I've lived in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area most of my life and it is unique. For a retiring person, I'd say southwest (Sarasota) to west (Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater) Florida may be worth taking a look at. As for Hurricanes, yes, the media blows it out of proportion (pun intended). You have at least a week to prepare and if it is too scary for you, it is easy to jump on a plane a fly somewhere else for a few days. Finally, if you are an avid cruiser, this is the spot. No flight delays or cancellations or lost baggage to deal with, just hop over or down to your port and be on your way. Do your due diligence but it really is a cool place to live once you figure it out.

I'm booked on Oasis for November and purchased the Soda Package already. Hearing that it is on sale now, I quickly did the math to see how much of a savings a change would get me. It was only $11.52, hardly even worth the effort to cancel and repurchase. I set a minimum $20 price point to be worth considering. Oh well.

Thanks for the idea Steverk. We are doing Utopia in Sep 2025 and then Icon in November 2025 and it makes sense to get one policy for both trips instead of 2 separate since the sailings are so close.

Thanks for the response Diesel. I'll be on the Oasis and I believe there is 1, maybe 2 in Playmakers, but also the music place where they do Karaoke that has the upstairs lounge and bar is supposed to have a few that I've seen on some review videos.

Is there a charge for the pool tables at Playmakers? Are there more than 1 pool tables there as well?

Is the check-in process via the app to select embarkation time the same thing as registering and uploading your passport? We are about 107 days out from our sailing on OOTS (I know, I know, plenty of time...just anxious) and wanted to ensure we didn't miss a step. I check daily on the RCCL website but this is all I see.

We were waiting with great anticipation for the schedule release and was shocked when they rolled out the 3 & 4 day cruises! We're booked in September of 2024 and are excited to see her. We will have our 1st Oasis experience in November 2023 on OOTS so it'll be super cool to go from the 1st to the newest.

Question for the panel. What is the latest you can purchase travel insurance? Unique situation here where we live in South Florida, so no flying to a city. However, we do want to ensure we have coverage for any type of emergency that would cause us to cancel and we'd want some sort of medical coverage as well. We are about 110 days out from our sailing.
-
Oh my Patty, sounds like you guys made an adventure out of it, LOL! I understand and thank you for the illustration. This will work perfectly for our plans. We will only use it in order to "check-in" back home once or twice per day. Our plan is to enjoy our time on OOTS taking in all of the activities and truly making it a vacation. Thanks again.

What happens if I do 1 person and 1 device and the wife and I take turns with our individual devices, will that work? We agreed to only have WIFI in the event of an emergency back home so we can be reached (Internet, WhatsApp, etc.).

The flight from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale is only about an hour (or less), so a same day shouldn't be an issue as long as you are arriving early. The Airport and the Port are right next to each other (10-15 min Uber or so).

What's the best way to find out if your cruise will be impacted by one of these closures? I respect the right of the individuals, but just trying to prepare myself and not have any surprises.

Hi Chris, I have a November cruise booked on the Icon. Hope to see you then.

Cool. Thanks Ash.

I'm actually going on the 9/3-9/6 sailing, but I have a curious question. When looking at the excursions offered for Coco Cay, there isn't any Jet Ski being offered. Is it way too early and this may be added later on, or will it not be offered during this time?

Excellent recap. Looking forward to doing the Alaska sailing in 2026 on one of the Quantum ships. Thank you.

Yes, out of PC, beginning July 15, 2024. This isn't official yet but widely expected.
And it is expected to be released next Tuesday, June 20th.
I doubt a new megaship will do short runs. If anything, the older Oasis Class ships will handle that. For example, starting in summer of 2025, The Oasis OTS will reposition to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale (currently sails from Miami part of the year). I believe that will handle the short runs to the Bahamas. Just my opinion, I could be wrong, but we will all know next week. Exciting times.

I too was thinking the itinerary would be released but it wasn't. Rumor has it that it'll drop Monday or Tuesday.
Bye Bye WOW Bands?

I'm currently on the Oasis of the Seas and when we went to purchase our WOW Bands we were told they have been discontinued.
Is this fleet wide or just limited to the Oasis? Was looking forward to this feature & was surprised by what we were told.
