  1. So...now that Royal seems to carry Starbucks as a default on Promenade, what is the difference between getting a capuccino here vs doing it at the standalone kiosk? I know that in CP - you can use your C&A discounts and your coffee card, but not in the kiosk. But I've never really understood the difference. I would assume that CP is serving Starbucks branded coffee.
  2. At least they used a picture of an actual passenger during disembarkation as background.
  3. You can always rent a car and drive from Disney to the port. There is a car rental place in Disney and you can drop it off at the port - I found that even with the "different location" surcharge, it was the most convenient option in my case, and close to the cheapest.
  4. Unless you are having breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a specialty restaurant or skipping any of those meals - you are basically stiffing the people at whichever venue you are eating.
  5. You know what? I think I was hacked. You are right. Honeymooners SHOULD! try out for the LMS. It's looks so fun and I wish I did it during my honeymoon. And with those amazing prizes, we were dumb. Or - y'know, do it because I need to be entertained.
  6. Call your TA/RC and tell them you want a table for yourselves in the MDR if you are doing MDR. It absolutely sucks to eat with strangers. It absolutely sucks MORE to do so during your honeymoon. You can also try to drop the 'well, it's my honeymoon'. I did that, and we got a small detail in our cabin. If you are getting a balcony in your stateroom, bring a bottle of wine and just enjoy a quiet evening on the balcony. Don't take the honeymoon too seriously. Have fun in whatever way you both like to have fun. You'll probably remember the funny/unscripted times more than anything else. And, not exactly to make it 'more special', but a general advice: DO NOT volunteer during the Love and Marriage game. Definitely go watch, it's hilarious. But resist the temptation to get onstage. And congrats.
  7. Thanks for the answer. I checked to see how much my current booking would be if I changed from a 4-person cabin (1 kid) to 2 doubles and lol...no luck. Price was almost doubled. Maybe next time
  8. @tonyfsu21 - everyone is different, of course. But I have no need to check emails during vacation, either personal or work. I usually pre-work times with my wife on the ship so we don't really text, and if we do, we rely on the terrible texting on the app.
  9. Maybe I didn't make myself clear: I booked an Alaska cruise in April - it has KSF because it not during the blackout dates. I think the cost was fair, given it's QotS. But my question was regarding this quote: At least, to me, it sounds like there might be better deals available than KSF. I wonder what can be an example for that.
  10. I understand why the Compass is slowly going away, even if I don't like the idea of having to use my phone during a cruise - and being under 40 with a kid, I'm probably part of the target audience of RC. I've had a couple of cruises in the past year - and while I did have to sometimes use my phone around the ship, we tried to limit it as much as possible. Going to the pool? Leave it Dinner? Leave it, unless we predict the kid will be fuzzy and -yes - we're gonna lend it to him so he can play some games instead of running around the MDR. Excursion? Take it, because obvious. Show with a reservation? Take it Late night wandering/bar-ing/casinioing? Leave it I'm also of the idea that - unless there is a situation at home that requires it - I'll never get the internet package. And I'm also a firm believer in Traditional Dining. Screw having to wait in line, I'm on vacation.
  11. I just ran my current reservation (3 adults + 1 kid, 7 nights in Alaska) with 4 adults. The difference is rougly $350 less with a child.
  12. If I'm travelling with a kid, how could be I find a better deal? Not snarky, genuinely curious.
  13. Is this for dinner, too? I saw on the Cruise Planner that the Bistro has a menu and all, so I would assume that it was table service with those items, and not a buffet. Earlier this year i had lunch there and it was a small buffet - still nice because yay no crowds! But the idea of sacrificing a table-service dinner for a buffet doesn't sound appealing at all to me, at least. So if it's just buffet, I might cancel and just go to the MDR.
  14. If it helps - I had booked a lunch on my Quantum cruise - and then repriced it with the discount. It wasn't much, but the price was definitely lower, but not much.
  15. More than going out to dinner, I wanted to actually tour around Vancouver. I've never been and probably won't be there in a long while. I'm probably staying an extra night then.
  16. I asked about this some time ago, apparently I can't.
  17. Echoing @Lovetocruise2002, I would recommend renting a car, or at least exploring the option. I was in Disney for 3 days before going to PC to take my cruise. For 3 passengers, the cost of renting an SUV for 4 days was just slightly higher than taking a shuttle to Disney and then finding a shuttle to take us to PC. And this is considering that they charge about $50 for returning the car at a different location. So it became a no-brainer when we considered the flexibility of having a car in Disney. If you are staying at a Disney resort, they don't charge for parking at the parks or hotels. It also doesn't hurt that I actually enjoy driving. We used Avis. And while they don't have a location at the Port, they have one that is about 5 minutes from it - and they run a (free) shuttle to the port.
  18. It sounds like a solid idea. The dogs on the Dog House are surprisingly good.
  19. I have an Alaska sailing for next year on Quantum. Because of tides and maybe other stuff, the ship doesn't leave Vancouver until Day 2, at 3:00 am. That's fine by me. However - I was wonder if anyone has had a sailing like this before. I'm very interested in knowing what are are the check-in times during sailings like this. My hope is to arrive the day before, and at least be able to do some sightseeing in Vancouver before boarding. Hopefully, since the ship sails pretty late, the check in times would be later. If the check in times are 'standard' (around 11am to...3?), I might think about staying an extra night in Vancouver. I would appreciate if anyone has this sort of info.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. For me, it shows as a C&A Member discount at 20%, up from the usual 10%.
  21. As a policy - no. If security finds you might be bringing something you shouldn't to the ship, the ship security would call you to review your bag. I'm not sure if they open your bag (aka cut the lock) or they ask you to open it. But they don't "randomly" cut bags to search them as a policy. Porters are not employed by RC and have absolutely no need to open your bag. However, I cannot say they wont open your bags. Because they are people, and some people like to do bad things. I've never, ever heard of this happening, though.
  22. I have a reservation for lunch for Jamie's for my cruise. However - when I logged in to re-book, I don't see the original time for my reservation -1:30 PM. The latest one is 1:00 PM. Is there a way to re-book for 1:30? Maybe asking my TA for help? Calling Royal directly? Choosing some other time and trying to make the change onboard?
  23. My usual recommendation in Cozumel is that, if you want to eat the best Mexican food, head to the market in the city and eat cochinita pibil.
  24. Reminds me of the 'Chef's Recommendations' on the MDR new menus.
  25. @Robandmar - I thought you meant strictly about the filet which, imo seems weird since the tenderloin has no fat. I've always personally thought the carving station in the WJ to be fatty so I don't ever have that. But that's not new.
