  1. Of course, now that I post about it, it works. Probably just a glitch, but it also glitched yesterday so started to think there was something wrong.
  2. Is it just me, or is the RC login having issues? I have tried to log into the app (it kicked me out) and it stays in the logo spinning. The site does the same thing before giving an error message.
  3. The dead givaway that it's not a RC ship is the shower curtain. I sailed on Enchantment a long while ago - it had the regular plastic door, no shower curtain.
  4. To each their own, but I found checking in on the website to be much simpler. The ability to use a physical keyboard and shortcuts makes a lot of difference to me.
  5. Good to know there will be at least 2 other in the cruise. Well not really, it looks like the ship is full.
  6. I just checked in for my next cruise. However this time, the check in process was only through the app. I couldn't do it on the RC website as usual. I read that in some select cruises they are doing this. I don't really know what they want to accomplish by it, but good grief doing the check in on the app for a party for 4 is horrible. I can't keep a notepad with things to copy-paste for each guest, and you actually have to scroll on all the drop downs instead of being able to type the first few letters and selecting. Anyways, I'm done venting I guess. I'll definitely bring this up during the post-cruise survey because I don't see any good reason to not leave the check in process both on the website and the app. But hey the passport scanner is kinda cool.
  7. I've noticed that the menus in the app represent the current sailing - even if you are looking at your sailing. IIRC, Quantum is currently in Australia, which means no lobster and this will show up in any sailing's menus on the ship. However - IIRC Alaskan cruises don't offer the "free" lobster in the MDR.
  8. I just checked these for my upcoming sailing in May - and neither is there. And even if it were, my point stands. It would be pretty well hidden and most of the passengers would have no idea about it.
  9. If they are in the app, they are certainly not easy to find. I just checked any tab I could think of in my upcoming cruise and there was no info on theme nights. I guess I could go to a different sailing on the ship and check - but I'm sure 90% of the guests have no idea about that.
  10. I never understood why they have theme nights but they don't tell you until you are on the ship. If they want to "promote" passengers from dressing up caribbean or all white or 70s or whatever, wouldn't it make more sense to send an email or something at least a couple of weeks before the sail date? Like, do people usually pack 70s style clothes just in case a disco ball appears?
  11. Opinion #1 - I personally think it's a bit too informal to wear shorts in the MDR. I always wear jeans. Opinion #2 - lolwhatever do what you want no one cares.
  12. Meh - I usually sleep by 1, 2 am. And late dinner is a thing in my culture and not everyone is obese.
  13. You can reserve your spot on the Cruise Planner. 25% Pre-Cruise savings!
  14. If you are incredibly lucky, you could get the 2500 points from the free spins from your C&A "rewards".
  15. Yup. That was my main issue. As a mexican citizen, the rules for entering Canada just changed yesterday. Now because the ship stops in Victoria (even if it departs from Vancouver), I need a visa instead of a simple eTA. With 2 months until I leave, the timing to request for a visa was probably not enough. And I had to make a call today in order to not lose 50% of the total of my 4 person cruise. Sadly for my sanity's sake, I ended up cancelling
  16. Thanks. And it does count as a completely new entry, right? Assuming I flew to Canada from a foreign country.
  17. I'm trying to figure out something. I am taking a cruise that starts in Vancouver and then goes to Alaska. The last leg of the cruise is in Victoria before ending in Seattle. Would there be Canadian immigration in Victoria?
  18. Quoting Mrs. Maisel? I see you are a man of culture.
  19. I find it funny that people think 8pm is an unreasonable time for dinner, but for me, 8:00 is the absolute earliest I find "ok" to have dinner. Not when the sun is still up.
  20. I would add that any restaurant noted with a ($) after it's name on the Compass/app/whatever is not complimentary, while everything without is is.
  21. As far as quality, I'm sure the luxury lines will beat Royal easily. However, they are way more expensive and not a comparison for RC. But within their direct competition (Carnival, MSC, etc), I agree that all food quality will be around the same.
  22. Out of curiosity, I checked the Member Benefits PDF. Currently, there are 3 D+ benefits that only apply towards 340+ points: 1. Cheers with an officer 2. Upgraded bathroom amenities 3. Single supplement fare discount If RC was to create another level, I would bet it would be at 340 since, unofficially, it already exists. Then maybe they can tweak benefits a bit to make it a little more attractive. For example: - Add a 7th free drink to Pinnacles and give this new tier 6. - Discount on DBP at 35% (halfway between D+ and P) - $15 off specialty dining on 5+ nights (P is at $25) - 3 free internet on 7N+ sailings; 2 on all others (D is at 2, P get free internet always) - Flex arrival
  23. At some point, if all the included options seem underwhelming, you gotta look at other cruise lines imo. I enjoy the complimentary food quite a bit, I even love a handful of dishes. The Dog House is good. Simple enough. I'd hate for it to have a bunch of toppings that just create a longer line. For chili dogs, you can build your own on the Windjammer.
  24. Step 1: Let passengers vote for a new route. Step 2: Let passengers vote for 'Captain of the Day' Step 3: Politics!
