  1. I discovered on our first cruise that the iced tea on board is not only awful tasting- it is potentially not even caffeinated. At home, I drink iced tea every day for breakfast… instead of coffee and for my lunch beverage. Onboard, I developed a rip roaring headache that only went away once I was back on shore and could drive through a What-a-burger. Since that first cruise, I bring my own tea bags. I request a pot of hot water at breakfast and I brew my own to pour over ice.
  2. And yes, wanted to nod to the suggestion in agreement, get to the shows 20-30 minutes early if you can. We haven’t missed a show yet!
  3. I think your plan is perfect! I have only been on two other cruises with one more planned for this coming spring. We get on the ship, like you, and don’t pay extra for anything. We eat great and enjoy the shows. We sit and take in the views and enjoy each sunset and sunrise. And yes, we whisper prayers over all our meals and those sunrises. You have a perfect plan and your kiddos should love every moment of your surprise!
  4. Thank you. We are linked. He has just never cruised without me and I had heard someone else saying the tier status only works when traveling with the higher status. thank you for clarifying.
  5. Maybe I misunderstood the tier sharing info- but i believe the shared tier is only when traveling with the higher tier family member. example- I’m platinum and my husband is gold. I’ve cruised a few more than him. Even tho his points are gold, when he and I cruise he is also a platinum. But- if he travels alone or without me- his tier is based again on his points. can anyone comment if I’m understanding it correctly?
  6. We are sailing on the Brilliance this coming spring. Not Oasis class but there is a park cafe. Wont they have the same menu? hoping so……!
  7. When looking for a travel agent, what do you look for? Close proximity to your location? what about AAA? Are they considered adequate/good travel agents? How did you find a wonderful travel agent?
  8. Its my favorite sandwich! I love eating at the Park Cafe! The salads there are great too!
  9. Besides the cookies (coconut? Oatmeal? Ranger cookie? What are they called?) my favorite treat was a breakfast item on Liberty of the Seas. It was a yeast roll but as you bite into it/ there is an apple jelly inside. I think we were told it’s a Swedish pastry. what about you? Any hidden gems you look forward to enjoying?
  10. How do you provide them with this proof to get your OBC? Do you have to purchase direct thru their investment program or is it something an investment broker can manage?
  11. We are sailing through the Panama Canal - but the day prior to sailing through - we will have a port day in Colon. What excursions do you recommend? We will also be in ports: Cartegena Columbia, Costa Rica, and Cabo and a few others as we make our way to Los Angeles. Any suggestions are "must see" are appreciated!
  12. Hahaha! I’m dying here. What a mess! Can I blame brain fog from old lady brain?
  13. True about AA but it would put us arriving at the wrong airport. More complications to getting home if cars are at the wrong location…. Would prefer to arrive at Love field. what time is the daily flight out of LGB to Dal? Would we make it in time on disembarkation day?
  14. Yes! After I posted that I looked at it and thought I have lost my mind. That’s not the right word! Disembarkation is right! Apologies!
  15. Thank you! I didn’t realize Royal transfer was an option to LAX. Most of us are flying Southwest… and although we have booked our flight to Florida- they haven’t opened tickets yet for our return trip from LA. But checking earlier dates, there aren’t many options anywhere for nonstop flights to Dallas… which is a mystery to me! I’ll also check with the other shuttle services as that seems to be a less expensive option. thank you for your replies and help!
  16. We are going on a cruise leaving Ft Lauderdale and arriving in LOs Angeles in the spring. I'm stumped on 1. WHICH airport to use to fly home (Dallas) -and 2. if there is a cruise bus/transport option in LA - and how I might find out the options? There seems to be 4 or 5 airports near LA terminal. Any wisdom for me? (There are 7 of us traveling together)
  17. As I am looking at the internet options- may I sign up for one package with two devices - my iPhone and my husband’s? or do I need to sign up for two separate plans?
  18. I love iced tea and drink it daily starting with my breakfast. The first time i sailed - I drank the iced tea regularly. The taste wasn’t great but I doctored it with lemonade or lemons…. And managed. Because I knew it was my form of caffeine. however by day 4 I had a rip roaring headache that never let up (even with advil or Tylenol) until we got off the ship and drove thru a drive in for a large iced tea on the way home. Within minutes my headache was completely gone. I decided based on my experience - the liquid pretend iced tea they serve is really not tea. From that point on, I have brought plain tea bags in my purse on board and I ask for a pot of hot water. I load up my Tervis with ice and make my own iced tea! No more headaches and it tastes great. Probably sounds silly but I don’t want a repeat headache performance from lack of caffeine. And yes - I’m a teatottaler (how is that spelled?!?) and do not drink alcohol.
