Scanning seapass cards in the suite lounge
Moby Dick replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I wonder if "dude" wears it in his everyday life. -
Yep, my first Alaska and probably my only Alaska. I'm really looking forward to the cruise, the ship part of it, that is. I spent some time in the Artic, northern Norway, and I can't say I'm a big fan of that type terrain and temp. If it wasn't for my wife wanting to go, I probably wouldn't. Happy wife, happy life. Our next cruise after Alaska - Aruba baby! Happy Sailing to you!
-
Aruba is such a nice island. I was surprised, I fully expected a plush jungle type island, nope, it's a desert island. It was beautiful though, it reminded me of when I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Somewhat the same terrain and I loved it there. The built up area, where the resorts and hotels are, it's wonderfully green, lots of Palm Trees and grass. Happy sailing to you!

We usually cruise Star Class. We took a cruise on the Anthem to Bermuda, no suites available at our late purchase time. So, we went in a balcony room. We actually didn't mind it. But, we've been Star ever since, our next cruise is Star, Ovation in May but our cruise in November on the Harmony is going to be a Boardwalk Balcony, last cabin at the rear to the rear. Can see the Aqua Theater show(s) and the wake view. Love having a Genie, though!

What’s the strangest thing you have seen on a cruise ship?
Moby Dick replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
People actually getting mad at the crew because the crew wouldn't answer questions as to why a person was airlifted off the ship. Folks, it's none of your business and the crew doesn't deserve your out of control anger. I find it "strange" that people can act that way. -
And yet another drink package question....
Moby Dick replied to csrsue's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I don't know how true this is but, I read on another message board about cruising on Royal, that if you have a valid reason for your, for example, spouse can't/won't drink, Royal will grant a waiver. I believe they gave examples as Pregnant/medical issue or must doesn't drink. I don't remember if anyone brought up any verification needed to prove medical issue. It's worth calling Royal and asking. Maybe any TAs in here can answer it. -
When I wake-up tomorrow morning, I'll have 49 days until my next cruise on the Ovation of the Seas, Alaska. It's been a long dry spell. The thing I like best about cruising is sea days. I just love sitting in a bar, on the balcony, anywhere on the ship where I can see the Ocean, land masses, inside passages go by. Not to mention the great tasting food and drink. I've never enjoyed a vacation more than one on a cruise ship and Royal makes it even better.

Last comment, apparently, at least one Dr's Office didn't/wouldn't. Just say'in. Happy sailing to you!
-
Not to make this a pissing contest, I was responding to a person that said the Drs Office would give him/her a print out, not an actual vax card. Why not just redo the card? What is the justification for doing just a print out and possibly create questions at the port, there shouldn't be or is very unlikely that a well established "card", would be questioned. An employee that has never heard of a print-out or never been trained on it, will probably have questions and maybe have to get a supervisor, slowing down the whole process and can be embarrassing. If you are like me and my wife, we have a specific leather carrying case for Passports and vax cards. I don't want to fold up a piece of paper and put into the case and have to pull it out and unfold it, whatever. It isn't too hard to put, the name of the Vax company, date of injections, and one other thing, I believe, and initials for each vax.

I've never been asked for verification of my military service.
-
I'm retired active U.S. Army. When you search for a cruise, cabin, and so on, it will ask what state you come from, if you are a Crown & Anchor member, and Military. As far as I can tell, when you get the quote for your selections, it automatically give you whatever discounts are available, if any. I don't think that they will stack discounts, give more than one discount at a time. But, they are very dynamic with their pricing, sales, and discounts. So, who really knows. In the rest of my life, I don't go with the flow, I ask a lot of questions and demand the truth. But, with cruise companies, it's impossible to feel confident that you are getting the straight poop from them. So, I love cruising and I try to do the best I can to make sure I get what is offered, go with the flow. I hate that part but, like I said, I love cruising.

My experience, NO, they don't. You print them from their, royalcaribbean.com website when your documents become available.

Did cvs just quit testing?
Moby Dick replied to HoosierCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Meeeeeeee tooooooo! I just happen to think that if you use a system that meets all of their own protocol/requirements/verifications, regardless of where you purchase it from or utilize the service, they wouldn't have any choice but to accept it or come up with a damn good reason why not. We'll see! -
This Covid-19 testing thing is convoluted...
Moby Dick replied to g.j.martin's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
A COVID test is just a "snapshot" in time, that actual time of the test, not a day or two before or what could happen a day or two after. I can get tested now with a negative result and contract the virus 5 minutes later. So, I don't believe anything that says there is a minimum time or a "drop dead" time frame (a no sooner time frame) you can take it before the cruise. In fact, I believe that the closer to embarkation you get tested, the better off everybody is, that's not a suggestion though, it's tough enough to get the tests now with the 2 day standard (which is actually/virtually 3 days). -
Did cvs just quit testing?
Moby Dick replied to HoosierCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
What do you mean by, "not yet heard of anyone successfully using one to board"? Is there a doubt or you actually mean you just haven't heard, read, talked to, or otherwise observed anybody using the system successfully? I just don't like to leave anything to chance (if at all possible). Inquiring minds want to know. -
Hotel Recommendation for Seattle Port
Moby Dick replied to ShellJ's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Don't know about hotels in Seattle, never been there. But, in May, we have reservations at the Airport Crowne Plaza. Any input about this hotel, anyone? -
Pet peeves cruising besides chair hogs
Moby Dick replied to Pima1988's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yep, it's too late to add more elevators to the existing fleet (unless a complete re-do of the ship which I don't think that is going to happen). But, I'd hope the builders/buyers of ships keep this in mind, but they won't if we don't keep reminding them of it. I've tried to hurry to the aft elevators and it's impossible to beat the young'uns.
