  1. If you read back I stated Haiti has a serious trash problem. Of course there are other countries that contribute to the pollution issue. Haiti is considered one of the countries with the greatest risk of plastic entering the ocean. The country generates a large volume of plastic waste in urban areas due to high consumption of treated water, soft drinks, and take away meals sold in plastic containers. If you take the time to research this topic , you will find that Haiti contributes a very high percentage waste that lingers around Haiti. Take the time to research the topic before attempting to publicly shame me. You only know 10% of what you think you know.
  2. FYI .....I was booked for a 28 day cruise on Grandeur of the seas for the month of April. Coming back from the previous cruise, I got a positive test at the Canadian border and had to quarantine for 10 days. My wife (who tested negative) had to re test after 8 days and also tested positive and had to quarantine a further 10 days . Needless to say we could not fly to Barbados and get on the ship. Because I am a Club Royale member I was able to cancel the 4 b2b cruises and get my port fees refunded and Air2Sea refunded my airfare booked on Air Canada. They tried to get me on the second leg of the cruise but flights were not available . Both Royal and Air2Sea were very accommodating on the cancellation, as I had proof of the positive covid test. I felt a little off for about 2 days and my wife had no symptoms. This was a bucket list cruise as it was in a GS., and I love Barbados and the southern Islands. Anyways, we are ready to go back to Nassau on our favourite ship, Oasis of the Seas come May 1 for 2 weeks. Cant wait!
  3. Looking at the design of these 2 suites, I was wondering how many of you think the GS is worth the extra $$ . Im already in a JS for 9 days Adventure of the Seas. Im taking into consideration the added perks...ie entry into Barefoot beach Labadee... meh? The royal up bids start very low recently. Im thinking the GS is worth a couple of hundred bucks extra?
  4. With the complimentary dining venues on board such as MDR, Coastal Kitchen ( I book suites) ,Johnny Rockets (breakfast) , Sorrentos, Mexican, Windjammer etc,,.... I have a tough time justifying an extra $400 to eat. Unless you are a real fussy foodie, ( and I can be) the main dining room is sufficient for me and I always ask for special requests to which they are very accommodating . Being Canadian, that $400 US price tag becomes $500! Nope. Not gonna do it. I'll spend that on the casino instead...lol
  5. So Ive been aware of the discounts available on the cruise planner. Up to 55% off , the highest is of course for unlimited dining. I think you can do better by going to any individual restaurant once boarded ( probably boarding day) and speak to a rep/manager of that particular restaurant you want. From my discussions in the past, they can go as high as 35% . As long as it suits their schedule. Any comments?
  6. Im in a bit of dilemma. I am sailing on Oasis out of Bayonne May 1. I am fully vaccinated plus I have had covid (omicron) I have read the requirements on FAQ's on Royal's site, and have even emailed them to help me with a final answer. So here's the question: Can I simply show proof of my lab test printed and dated to board without a letter/certificate of recovery? If I need that letter, then I would have to find a clinic and pay for that letter. Or am I better to just pay for a antigen test? The costs would be similar, there are no freebees here in Toronto Canada.
  7. Might have to digress here..... getting another test. If negative, all is a go! Otherwise the whole trip is scrapped
  8. well that's interesting and great for you. I have 4 weeks booked B2B and its all cancelled as my wife now tested positive for covid ( feels fine no symptoms) and air2sea cannot find me a flight for the second leg of the trip or the third! I was on the phone with them for 5 hours yesterday. Today is the day I find out what will now happen. All 4 cruises on suites for double points OBC, all lost looks like it, as Club Royale and RCCI are 2 separate entities, and Club Royale won't deviate from the offers I used ...and they are expired. I have a special resolution agent from Royal looking into it, but it does not look good. They are trying to fill in the next 3 weeks out of Florida now. Barbados flights are now fully booked and more than doubled in price to boot. This was booked last spring. My wifes quarantine is over this coming wednesday. Mine is done. If club Royale won't do anything, then I am leaving the program. Will most likely give Celebrity a go. At least my crown and anchor is somewhat matched up., and the new ships look fantastic.
  9. Wow, thanks so much for that. I checked all FAQ and could not find this. Much appreciated. !!!!
  10. This topic was posted previously and I cant find it. Can somebody please direct me to Royal's policy for naturally immune passengers? Is a letter of recovery needed along with lab tests, so that further testing is not required ? thx!
  11. This is puzzling. Everything here will point to the captain of that cruise ship and the systems aboard. High resolution radar systems have been delivering a new standard in navigational awareness for operators of very large cruise ships for years. What would Royal do?? I would point you to the fine print policy on cancellations for whatever reason once aboard a cruise ship. The liabilities will certain be "lawyered up" and if Royal wants to do what is right and just, then they have the option to do anything they want. ....like promising to get you home by private jet, should you get covid. I would look at Royals track record on situations like this compared to the competition to learn more.
  12. For this program to be a success, Royal needs to offer the same guarantee of lowest price much like they do on Air2Sea. Hotel rates fluctuate continually. I always check with 3 sources...Trivago, Hotels.com , and HOTWIRE. But lately I have found incredible deals on SNAPTRAVEL you need to download the APP. Best deals, no extras, like resort fees, hotel fees etc. Just price and tax. no frills. Love it.
  13. They should have designed some kind of a outdoor elevator. Its the major complaint for that slide.
  14. Jerusalem for a day. Ive been there on a 10 day excursion. There is so much to see, I need to go back. Off a ship... Jerusalem, the 4 quarters, stop for a nice lunch make way back to ship.
  15. If he doesn't like water slides , then its a pass. there is plenty of activity available elsewhere, the beach, pool, etc... Ive been there 10 times and still have not paid. ( I don't think I could make it to the top of the tallest slide)
  16. I have no idea as to what degree of sensitivity you are referring to. This attempt to publicly shame me speaks volumes about yourself.
  17. nothing ventured, nothing gained. It costs nothing to try. I would never pay full pop for a GS or higher.
  18. I call first thing early mornings. Never on a weekend night. Pandemic has caused lack of people issues across the board.
  19. Ill be on that cruise.. B2B 4 weeks. Sorry you had to cancel. Air2Sea was a great experience for me. Lowest price too.
  20. I get comped cruises through Club Royale. But I would like to try Celebrity EDGE. and try the blue chip casino experience. The only way to do that is through an agency such as URcomped.com I have quite a few offers already, on Equinox, but I want a suite on the EDGE. It looks awesome. Further I think I will like it better with fewer kids, a bit more classier, better food etc.
  21. you dont pay for CK. Its complimentary for suites. Lunch may be available on particular ships on certain time lines... not sure.
  22. The JS is usually the best bargain. Especially on Oasis class ships as now you have Coastal Kitchen available for dinner.
  23. Ok, so the Wonder of the Seas has finished its inaugural voyage. All the media, youtube bloggers, vloggers, and wannabees were there. I could have been on that cruise. I declined my offer, as I KNEW the inherent risks of these first time cruises. Much like the start up of a new restaurant or the launch of a newly designed car, one needs to be aware of deficiencies that will happen or "bugs" that need to be fixed. I've watched numerous clips on posts from other bloggers, which I won't mention, but its honestly laughable they did not expect some hiccups on this type of cruise. Good grief, we are still at the tail end of a pandemic , with supply chain issues, people issues, (lack of ) etc. I am not in the least surprised at all the deficiencies/problems that occurred that these bloggers were crying about... internet, things not working in staterooms, shows not at full performance, sprinklers, shortages of this and that...etc I have my differences with Matt H. I dont always agree with him, and I already have one warning of abusive behaviour for jesting with another poster which I thought was unfair. Regardless of that, I can see that this is Matt's baby, its his show, and he takes it very seriously probably as a sole source of income. His report on Wonder of the Seas is second to none. Most of the videos produced are high quality calibre, and on point and come across in a very professional journalistic presentation. I simply shake my head at the competition. I don"t watch Monday's live youtube anymore as they are simply too repetitive on questions, and I can't wrap my head around super chats. Regardless....well done Matt and congratulations on your success and thank you for what you do. Cheers!
  24. I am a Canadian. I recently came off a cruise and tested positive for covid. I am fully recovered , and have another cruise out of Barbados. After much research and phone calls to health Canada, the Barbados embassy in Toronto, the chief medical officer in Barbados, the following is what you must do if you have tested positive previously. After recovery, get a letter/certificate of recovery from your own local doctor. Get a negative antigen test, PCR molecular is not necessary. WHY? Even though fully recovered you can still test positive on a PCR test for up to 6 months. If you test positive on a antigen test, you are still considered "infectious" A negative antigen is a MUST . If you dont have proof of that test, they will test you, and if positive, send you to a quarantine hotel to isolate. Beware. Make sure you bring the lab results with you on your travels to show you once tested positive. You will no longer be required to be tested since you are now officially "naturally immune" This will help you on re-entry back to Canada as well. , even though RCCI will administer the tests if you want one. On B2B cruises RCCI will test you near the end of your first cruise. If you test positive, according to RCCI policy they will do their best to get you home to isolate, even if that includes a private jet. Im still looking into what happens if I disembark in Barbados, check out the landscape and re-embark. Will Royal re-test me? Not sure. Things are always changing, and could further change by the time you read this post.
  25. I do this whenever I can. But I am a Casino Royale cruiser, and I think they have stopped it for comped players. I use to love getting upgraded to crown loft suites and grand suites.
