  1. Any idea what Genies are on Ovation right now. Any thoughts on them?
  2. I consider all restaurants downtown the riverwalk. I’ll definitely have to check them out. I’m a transplant to the Alamo City from Kentucky. And for all you folks down south, shame on you, pulled pork is the beez kneez. Lol. I like to think each state line south from Kentucky as flavor rings, lol.
  3. Lol, the Riverwalk is for suckers, just kidding. We loved terrace brunch at La Canarias on the river before covid. They haven’t reopened.
  4. Hi Moby. Here in ole San Antonio, all Broadway shows play at the Majestic Theatre. It is a beautiful theater from the turn of the century that is very small and intimate. Much smaller than the main theater on most ships. These shows even forgo the much larger and modern theater here in town. If you build it, they will come, lol
  5. Yes, yes, yes, many times yes. Canx Cats when that contract expires! Wicked please!
  6. I love cheese so I thought this whole thing was interesting because I found the cheesy sides at Chops not so cheesy but have never experience the orange. Yikes. Sounds like the blue box. Sorry, i just really enjoy cheese, lol.
  7. When you say RCG (Royal Caribbean Group which includes Celebrity& Silversea) do you mean all of the group or do you just mean Royal Caribbean International? We’ve found anything involving cheese to be a bit bland on Royal but never lacking flavor on Celebrity. Maybe they just crank up the sharpness of the cheese for us old folks on Celebrity so our old buds can taste it, lol.
  8. 100% agree Smokey! Thats why we choose less formal options. We remember the days when those photo ops were important to us, so we are still mindful of others but Now we just want to pack light and be comfortable. Plus we hate having to change back into comfy clothes for the night after dinner.
  9. We gave up on formal night years ago. We like to keep it casual for comfort but respect folks that still enjoy formal night. We steer clear of the MDR and go to specialty or CK on those nights so we dont detract from other folks experience. I think we went to Playmakers both formal nights on our last cruise just so we could wear shorts, lol.
  10. You and your peeps sound like lots of fun, lol. Covid isn’t funny anywhere but definitely not cool on a ship when the industry is trying to recover. Not a funny joke. FYI, if you “live” in the casino, the current policy doesn’t seem to be an issue for you so not a problem for Royal.
  11. Hi folks, smoking or non, I believe Mr. Baley stated they look at smoking in the casino every so often and they alway lose revenue. So looks looks like Royal runs the numbers and it it is what it is. But it looks like they are experimenting with separate smoke free casinos so they are listening. Win-Win in my opinion. What annoys me more than smoking are table guests. If you aren’t gambling, get off the table.
  12. Thanks Moby. Watching the video, it looks like you could just get out where the cars are stopped to let folks cross to the terminal since the banner is right there.
  13. It was all Leticia @Neesa, she’s definitely a rock star. Fyi, when you weren’t able to reschedule your hibachi, we were just one grill station over and saw you and your amazing family come in. I know the Evian was a struggle, lol; so glad you were able to enjoy the 80s Aqua and food show! It’s a small Oasis class world out there, maybe next time will get the courage to introduce ourselves, haha.
  14. Hi @suite snob. I have a question about the Star Class entrance. Was your driver able to get right to the Star curb folks? We’ve hit snags in both Miami and Port Canaveral but the driver was always able to eventually get the ok from the deputies to get straight to the banner with our bags. This is our first sailing out of Seattle so just curious if you have any pointers. I watched your video and it looked like a hike, even for Star. Also, how did the 11AM check in work out for you? We usually arent in a huge hurry to get on board on embarkation day.
  15. I agree with Twangster that it depends on the Genie but our Genie on Oasis was able to take care of folks that had a missed showing of the 80s Aqua show. We only knew this person through these boards. Our Genie was able to work it out and in my opinion, that is what makes Genies special. Shout out to you Leticia.
  16. I always thought the same thing but I saw a documentary about Symphony the other night on the Smithsonian Channel. In the documentary, they highlighted the performers practicing during the day as well as what goes on beneath the water. Hydraulic platforms, air systems, etc. it was really informative. I guess since it goes way beyond a standard pool, they don’t give passengers access for both passengers and performers safety as well as protect all that expensive gear. If you get a chance, check it out. I believe the show was mighty cruise ships.
  17. We did the escape room on Oasis in November and it was awesome. The escape room we did on Anthem was fun but it was placed props in a random room. Oasis’s escape room was built for the purpose and well worth the time. They even give you an Apollo 18 patch for completing the room. Definitely worth it!
  18. Hi, We are booked on Ovation for this August and did it 1 yr ahead (w/booked excursions). We’ve watched prices over the last year, we’ve seen a slight uptick in price but cabin availability has disappeared quick. The biggest changes we’ve noticed are excursions…they have almost doubled in price, even tripled in some cases. We booked normal RC excursions through Private Journeys and they were able to get us the best price and in some cases, open additional slots for us. Although we normally use 3rd party vendors (pre-covid), We recommend RC tours right now based on our experience. Private Journeys had a bit of a time finding things for us. From what we understand, many 3rd party providers left Alaska during Covid and have not returned which leaves very limited availability. They can work with the vendors for you if there is something you really like.
  19. Honestly the new Aqua Show on Oasis is the best we’ve ever seen. We saw it twice (even our 15 yr old loved the 80s/90s). We’re hoping it is a sign of updates fleet-wide. Enjoy the Amp’d Oasis and hope you like the show as much as we did.
  20. Thanks. I’ve been to Alaska a few times…don’t recommend Fairbanks in January, lol. This is our first family trip, TG it is summer. They don’t make thermals for those Fairbanks winter nights.
  21. Woof, It’s the bandit. Thanks Firebird ( Hope that is from Smokey). We are expecting lots of rain and packing accordingly, including layers. We really just don’t want to live in soggy shoes.
  22. Hey, One crazy Texan to another, San Antonio here. Do you recommend gortex lined? Is it worth the cost?
  23. Hello Royal Caribbean Gurus. Can you help us pack for our excursions in Alaska in August. There are a lot of sites with suggestions but we are trying to pack as light as possible. Our excursions in August are: Ketchikan - Neets Bay Bear Watch by floatplane Skagaway - Dog Sledding and Glacier Flight Watching Endicott Arm Fjord - Glacier Explorer Juneau - Pilot’s Choice Glacier Explorer Any suggestions, especially footwear would really be helpful. Thanks All.
