I have see a helicopter evacuation and been on board when a non scheduled stop was made to transfer a patient. Just depends on how critical the situation is, how close to port, etc.

I got off Odyssey last Saturday.   It was a transatlantic cruise.  There was a medical emergency in middle of ocean.  They changed course so be closer to land for the helicopter to come.  Got some great pictures of the helicopter hovering.   Do not know what the medical issue was, and I hope they were ok.

  2. The specialty restaurants do not have a la carte pricing, so you cannot just go buy something there.  Like a dessert.   If you are at a restaurant and really like a dessert, ask for another "to go".  I do that and put in cooler in cabin for another time.  I eat at Coastal Kitchen a lot.   Mostly the food is very good.  I enjoy it.  And Risotto is sticky in texture and supposed to be that way.  I love it.

But not all ships are the same nor do things the same.  We just got off Odyssey and they had the Quest game in SeaPlex.  It was terrible. You have to stand, and the people in upper level cannot get down to team leaders to help at all.   That was a very poor thing to do.   We are taking grandkids on Harmony in couple weeks.  Hope our experiences are good.  I have been on that ship a few other times with no issues.  Sorry you did not have a good experience.

1st time cruising 04/2024! …are the pillow on-board really that big?! Hopefully they’re still rectangular in shape, and not like those insanely-large square ones you find in Germany… 😢💧?

The pillows are king size.  You can ask for standard size if you want.  But sometimes I like the king size ones to use as a body pillow.

  4. I enjoy Unlimited Dining.  We just go to a restaurant that is not serving lunch on embarkation and book for the week. Usually only 1 or 2 people in line.  Or we book at the table in lobby.  Can usually get what we are looking for in dining times.  I have also booked shows and dinners with host at the Diamond lounge.   Other times we go to lunch and I book the restaurants on my phone.   It just depends.  Sometimes we just show up at a restaurant and see if they have space for us.  More often than not they do.  Many people are no shows.  We do not always get Unlimited dining, but when we do we really enjoy it.   And tend to eat too much!  We like getting unlimited on transatlantic cruises as many sea days.  So you can enjoy both lunches and dinners.

Hi All, I have a question.  Kids just renew their passport, now I heard it will be delay.  What's are the other option?    They are teenager.  Will birth certificate work?  If yes, does it have to be original or a copy will work?

    Original or certified birth certificate

I’m recovering from a herniated disc 2 years ago, 90% better, but have chronic intermittent pain still. Mattress was very comfortable on our cruise. My issue was with the pillows, they were huge, had to request smaller ones.

Agree about the pillows.  We always request some smaller ones

SeaPass cards are not available until onboard.

One of my JS experiences several years before the pandemic didn't designate anything on my SetSail.  The gatekeeper at the terminal challenged me but I insisted I was in a suite.  He eventually let me in the line.  So this has been been ongoing for years.

Oops, I meant SetSail papers, not  Seapass card

Set sail pass in the app or the printed version?

For as long as the app has had set sail passes it hasn't always listed suites properly.  Printed passes usually do though.

The Seapass cards do not usually have Jr Suite printed on them.  Our cruise next week in Jr Suite does not.  They will know.  And you can board with the suites guests.

If they are staying with you in the same suite, I though all suite guest have access to the Coastal Kitchen.  If all of you are staying in a suite, then you have access to the suite lounge.   So no need worry about drinks isn't it?

We are pinnacle but not staying in a suite.  We have 2 ocean balconies rooms, that are connected.  We wanted 2 bathrooms and a larger suite was too expensive.  If my husband and I go into suite lounge we can bring drinks out with us.  Am pretty sure they will let us bring in minor children with us to Coastal Kitchen., It is just not a guarantee.  A nice tip can usually help.

  10. We are taking grandkids on cruise in June.  They have never been on a cruise.  I printed the form from Royal Caribbean that parents sign to authorize us taking them and being able to make decisions regarding their medical care, etc.  The kids are 11, 11, and 14.  They will not be able to use your diamond benefits.  We plan to get drinks for them with our points/vouchers. And hoping they can join us in Coastal Kitchen for meals.
