  1. Hopefully it is now up and running (sounds like it is). Aqua80s was PHENOMENAL. One of the best shows I've seen on water OR land (and I lived in Vegas!). Truly fantastic, and single-handedly the reason I would sail the Oasis of the Seas again (well, and I love Central Park). Hopefully you will be able to see it another time!
  2. This is going to be the trend going forward for a long time. That's fine. Took us all of an hour between the 3 of my immediate family to get vaccinated (both sets) months ago; pretty easy investment of time/effort vs NOT getting vaccinated. My 6 yr old will get the shot as soon as it is available. Less people on board? I am not going to cry. But statistically, cruises have 13 million Americans to pull customers as of TODAY (that's 8% of the current fully vaccinated number of Americans - the same % of Americans CLIA has stated cruises regularly in the US). They will be fine, especially with more and more every day (500k or a day on the low end). That's a lot of $. If this means a few less on our upcoming OASIS cruise in October and perhaps NO MASK REQUIREMENTS FOR THOSE VACCINATED (as all adults will be vaccainted) will be awesome!
  3. You can tell the person has an agenda; research the person and look at other videos/social media they have posted in the past. If their post history hadn't been anti-mask, anti-vaccine, basically a covid-denier, then she would have some credibility. This is how I check reddit users (are you a bot or not?) and even people on this forum and others. Is there a consistency to "their reaction" or is it very outside the norm. Usually pretty easy to determine.... This sounds like a case of "freedom to make choices, but not freedom from the consequences of those choices" when the outcome was exactly what was expected in the scenarios outlined by users on here and Cruise Critic if a non-vaccinated guest tests positive. Her reaction was NOT appropriate. Also, one can also infer that the cruise line isn't trying to be POLITICAL, they are TRYING TO MAKE MONEY. They have no incentive to kick her off...start with that mindset and things seem a lot clearer....
  4. 1) Had she cooperated and taken the 2nd test, she MIGHT have been able to stay on-board. 2) She K-N-E-W what the bracelets were for and that she did not qualify to have one. Her friend was vaccinated and got a wristband and likely in some confusion (new processes, remember) she was likely given one (can't speculate why or how). Could her friend, theoretically, given her the bracelet? Who knows... Either way she K-N-E-W she shouldn't have had the bracelet and should have had her card punched. But, she didn't do the right thing and explain the mistake and get it resolved. Personal responsibility seems to have gone away in spades in the last year, look at the problems on airlines recently. This is a perfect example of "Always do the right thing even when no one is looking". Maybe it's just me, but if I see a store make a mistake and forget an item on my receipt, I will actually take time and go back and get it fixed and pay what I owe. I see a shopping cart half-way across a parking lot, I return it. All inconvenient for me, but I try do my part to help make this world a better place. This story is the opposite of that.
  5. Touché! I like your jib! However, that being said, I am happy to debate anyone, any day, as long as multiple sources can be provided to validate, and cross-check, a point. That I can provide for any above topic to refute. As an example to the Florida "did a fantastic job" statement. Compared to who? All 50 states? Florida ranks 17th worst overall, so in in the top majority of case loads (top 3rd). And this assumes Florida reports "correctly" which is questionable, but I can only live with the data I have...so technically this is a true statement "amongst the highest case loads in the country" https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109004/coronavirus-covid19-cases-rate-us-americans-by-state/. Refuting bullets is not the same as checking boxes...They are not the worst by any means, but to me "fantastic" means you did better than most...which is not the case. Another source of data, Florida ranks 18th..so again not disproving my statement. That is the point...not arguing how other states did better or worse, debating "did a fantastic job"...they could have done 32 states better....if they had been in the bottom 25% you could argue "fantastic". . https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us
  6. I think this is a Troll post. User only has 2 posts and of course, uses the "key words" I see on every anti-vax, anti-mask, etc post from bots/trolls...."experimental vaccine" (usually aimed at mRNA vaccines, neglecting the fact that the J&J is MUCH MORE traditional), "see, masks even say on the box they don't protect you!" (which is my favorite, no one said masks protect you from others, it reduces YOUR spread), "Florida did GREAT"....the checkboxes just check themselves. Hopefully this gets removed. Florida still has amongst the highest case rates in the country and always have...bang up job they did. But, to the original point. This is a troll.
  7. Yes, that was also mentioned, but I really honestly believe right out of the gate it will be vaccinated over 12....Maybe the first 30 days just to test the waters out. They NEED to start making money...and I have a 6 year old booked for Oasis in October. Our 14 year old gets her 2nd shot this week and will be fully vaccinated in 2 weeks. My wife and I have been done for months. We are READY TO GO but not sure what will happen with our 6 year old. We obviously won't go without her but we are getting closer and closer....
  8. Christine Duffy at Carnival was interviewed this morning and basically, without actually using the exact words, said that vaccines WILL be required at least initially and that the product (yes, "CARNIVAL" but I think she was referring to cruising in general) just isn't up to par if they go the unvaccinated route and follow all the CDC guidelines. Families were also indicated as potentially needing to wait. Sounds like the fastest path back to making money, honestly.
  9. I think what confuses people who call out HIPAA "rights" (which is funny as most people have no idea what the act REALLY protects) and cruising either with "fake cards" or "unvaccinated" realize that with the majority of the passengers and crew vaccinated and the vaccines with their high efficacy rates any breakouts would be rather limited and contact tracing much easier to do. What would happen is that if a breakout were to occur those that end up testing positive while on the cruise would be investigated (which will likely happen if a small outbreak occurs so the cruise lines can understand where their protocols failed) and their medical history REGARDING THE COVID19 VACCINE will likely be determined as this information IS ALLOWED TO BE GATHERED AND SHARED under HIPAA while the pandemic is still considered a health emergency. So yes, most people that "fake" these cards or are willing to go unvaccinated would likely be discovered IF an outbreak occurs. Children under 12 (as the EUA for 12-15 is likely to pass soon) would not be investigated because they can't get vaccinated, so the adults would be looked into. So by "not getting" the vaccine and cruising or "faking" it you MAY get away with it (as most will), it goes back to the IF something happens, you will get discovered. I see this like drunk driving, sure people do it all the time and don't get caught, but when someone drinks and slams their car into someone else or a tree that their lives get ruined. Remember, the CARD may be flimsy and reproducible, I KNOW FOR A FACT your covid-19 vaccine immunization IS recorded. Is it worth it? I guess that's up to the individuals who opt to go that route. As for those who are not aware, here are the HIPAA regulations regarding use of PRIVATE HEALTH DATA to investigate breakouts, etc: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Public Health Activities The HIPAA Privacy Rule recognizes the legitimate need for public health authorities and others responsible for ensuring public health and safety to have access to protected health information that is necessary to carry out their public health mission. Therefore, the Privacy Rule permits covered entities to disclose needed protected health information without individual authorization: • To a public health authority, such as the CDC or a state or local health department, that is authorized by law to collect or receive such information for the purpose of preventing or controlling disease, injury or disability. This would include, for example, the reporting of disease or injury; reporting vital events, such as births or deaths; and conducting public health surveillance, investigations, or interventions. A “public health authority” is an agency or authority of the United States government, a State, a territory, a political subdivision of a State or territory, or Indian tribe that is responsible for public health matters as part of its official mandate, as well as a person or entity acting under a grant of authority from, or under a contract with, a public health agency. See 45 CFR §§ 164.501 and 164.512(b)(1)(i). For example, a covered entity may disclose to the CDC protected health information on an ongoing basis as needed to report all prior and prospective cases of patients exposed to or suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19. • At the direction of a public health authority, to a foreign government agency that is acting in collaboration with the public health authority. See 45 CFR 164.512(b)(1)(i). • To persons at risk of contracting or spreading a disease or condition if other law, such as state law, authorizes the covered entity to notify such persons as necessary to prevent or control the spread of the disease or otherwise to carry out public health interventions or investigations. See 45 CFR 164.512(b)(1)(iv). Source: https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/hipaa-and-covid-19-limited-hipaa-waiver-bulletin-508.pdf
  10. Is there a way to be linked to this facebook post or a screenshot? As much as we all want good news, in today's world people like to throw out "I saw a video on youtube; I saw a post on XYZ" but then can never provide the link. Rumors spread false hope, and false news, too.
  11. Do you know which cabin under the hot tubs? We just booked 14558 on the Oasis due to the added shade. I saw some reviews online (https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/1733402-oasis-14th-deck-overhang/) that indicated 14558 was a GREAT room? Do you know the exact cabin?
