  1. I just got the email. But I went to check how much it would be for an April 2024 sailing on Freedom that goes to PDCC and it isn't listed.
  2. The senior discount is almost a moot point. My mother is emerald but her friends aren't ranking, I believe they saved maybe $15-22 by being seniors. Often the "sale" prices they have will be more than any discount offered.
  3. It would be more advisable to book shore excursions in the cruise planner. The app is not reliable imho until you are closer to sailing or actually on the ship.
  4. I will be on Allure in a month for the second time and in Jan for my third. I see nothing wrong with any of the Oasis class ships, they are unique in their own way. Now about Cats.......it still haunts me; I will randomly ponder why at the most awkward of times. Like I was literally thinking yesterday why they thought 5min of the performers kicking their legs every which way without lyrics in the music, would be entertaining
  5. I think it is still the pent-up travel frustration from all the lockdowns but also the mindset of the youths. Many people under 25 have no incentive to save. They see no issue with paying $45k to stay in suites or get this "once in a lifetime experience," paying $11/12k for basic rooms on Icon seems like a good idea. Most people booking have no real frame of reference it seems. I was booked on the inaugural but my brother wasn't too keen to spend $5k for an interior when things might not be up to par., I was able to get three cruises for less than half that price. Now the prices are insane even for the periods when I normally sail. I will wait until I can get a casino comp on her.
  6. There is often really questionable behavior on shorter cruises. So sadly, this doesn't surprise me. There are a lot of people in the world, most strive to be decent human beings but a lot, probably close to half, think they are the center of the universe. Therefore, their actions are acceptable.
  7. Yes, shorter cruises have a higher onboard price for internet and beverage packages. Which you think would be the opposite. I am now D+ and also prime so I won't get internet in CP for anything less than 5N because with the perks and discounts it is cheaper.
  8. This would be responding to your post. I was replying in general. The CP price quoted is still based on a discounted price and could be based on itinerary and length of cruises. My understanding is that Alaskan cruises have cheaper per day internet as a whole. I used my D/prime discount in Jan before the price increased and it was $27.99 a day on Grandeur for a 5N. My last sailing as D in April the internet was $29.99 onboard.
  9. I don't do holiday sailings, but I have seen a couple of live blogs from them. I recall they were selling seats on the promenade, in your case it will be the Esplanade, for $1k pp. I believe it included one or two drinks but imagine paying to sit at Sorrento's . I also think they charge for a more upscale menu at certain specialty restaurants on top of the original cost.
  10. The price for internet onboard is $29.99. So, the only way it actually works out is if your cruise is 4 nights or less. The price in CP will always be better unless you are D/D+ and also prime in the casino.
  11. Oh, just an update. One vintage just put in for her vacation and she fears she won't get it. But no biggy because if it doesn't get approved, she will just put in her two-week's notice. Then reapply when she gets back. ........apparently this has been done before. My brother says I am too nice and I should just let them fend for themselves. @Lovetocruise2002 I think the thirteen-year-olds can be taught to behave. The vintages, the youngest is 58, have lived long enough to be sat in their ways.
  12. Mariner is a ship where specialty dining isn't great. The UDP is a waste as there are three specialty restaurants and JR. The Izumi is good but the quality at Jamie's and Chops leaves a lot to be desired. Another thing is that spending has been curb. Royal has priced the extras so high that specialty dining will be the first to go.
  13. Day 34 As stated, I checked everyone in and told them to fill out the rest of their info. They still have not done it. In just a couple of days I will be able to print luggage tags. I normally create a physical packet with the luggage tags, their set sail pass, hotel confirmations, in this case the train ticket confirmations, and anything else having a physical copy as backup would help. The first time we did a group cruise it was over Halloween, which is my favorite holiday. We had a pre-cruise dinner get together to discuss everything. I created little gift bags because none of them had sailed before and I wanted them to have cruise essentials. I also had ordered us matching t-shirts: one for WDW and one for the cruise. Nobody wore them during the vacation (they all love them now and wear them often) or used any of the cruise essentials. The second cruise on Odyssey I got everyone a lanyard or card clip and luggage tags. Again, nobody used them. Well, my brother used his, but he is sane and normal, so I don't count him when it comes to the rest of the group's tomfoolery . We also had a pre-cruise dinner, where they all begged me to book star class the next time......I am sure everyone knows how that turned out . Since I was the one spending money and not feeling appreciated and this planning was the worst, I decided not to do any of that this time. The new vintage also wanted to know if we would be dressing together and for the theme nights. I told her no. My mother and my bffs mother can't follow an assignment to save their life. Some had the audacity to say when are you taking us to dinner to discuss the cruise? I had a good laugh. When the train was solidified as the mode of transportation. I made plans. I am a little type A, so I always include the itinerary, a packing list, a suggestion list and general outline of what I am doing. I also want to say a big thanks to @USCG Teacher for helping ease my anxiety and answering my fears/questions. Everyone I have talked to about trains mentions the food. I have been doing the Costco thing and buying nuts, chips, pretzels, granola/protein bars, and candy for both me and the crew in bulk. My original plan was to bring a deconstructed charcuterie/crudité board. That is still part of the plan but getting a meal on the train is off. Most of it is just microwaved frozen items. So, the actual plan is to get a hot meal at the station before boarding. I mentioned this to the vintages, and they all told me they are bringing nothing. They claim I told them not to bother with snacks because the train has food, I had them all pull up the email chain and text thread. Reading is fundamental. With a full day of train riding, a pre-cruise night at a hotel, and another 24+ hour train ride back. Our vacation is 10 days. Most of the vintages are at 4/6 bags allotted. I will be taking the largest number of bags I have ever taken on any vacation, which will be 3 1/2. My brother and I will share a 29in checked bag. Then I will have my carry-on, a weekender filled with train essentials, and my cooler bag. I recently purchased a new weekender bag Amazon.com | Travel Duffle Bag, BAGSMART 31L Quilted Weekender Overnight Bag for Women with Laptop Compartment, Large Carry On Airport Bag with Wet Pocket & Shoe Bag for Business Trips, Sports (Purple) | Travel Duffels I already have a bento box and Igloo hot/cold lunch bag, but I purchased a cooler backpack specifically for this trip. Amazon.com : Backpack Cooler Backpack 26 Cans Insulated Leak Proof for Women Men Beach Camping Picnic Fishing Hiking Lunch Backpack Waterproof Cooler : Sports & Outdoors There are some things we cannot live without: coffee, tea, supplements, protein, and other dry/powder things that require a particular type of container. We found these storage containers at TJ MAXX/Family dollar that Amazon sells at $15+ for under $5. Amazon.com: SELEWARE Portable Stackable Food Storage Containers for Snacks Formula Powder and Drinks Twist Lock System Airtight Leak-proof BPA and Phthalate Free 4 Piece Jars 31oz Blue : Baby I have been fielding a lot of calls and texts from vintages who are scrambling to get prepared before vacation. I actually was just asked what ports we were going to and the worst of all, when do we leave.
  14. Wow this trip sounds amazing. I can only imagine how beautiful everything will be in person. I know there are strict rules so you don't introduce anything that could affect the ecosystem, is that why the flight and such are included? Will you have to wash everything before you board the cruise?
  15. I can't see them offering upgrades now that RoyalUp is a thing. But it is a nice gesture. Also I have to say not everyone works like you. Some people get an upgrade and never spend more.
  16. While there will be a few deals. Keep in mind the retail tricks. One being to mark everything up end of September, beginning of October and then come November say it's a black Friday deal. Often times prices will be better before any black Friday deals. So advice is to buy at a price you are comfortable with and if a sale comes along, reprice.
  17. Welcome, It is definitely an IT issue and it will work itself out on its own. Customer service will not be able to help with the app issues. Especially since it will show up in the cruise planner.
  18. I find it offensive to use the term slave wages as in slaves do/did not get paid.
  19. How they rank will depend on people's preference. The one thing about Wonder is she is new and seems to feature all the improvements people wish for when the ships get amplified. I sailed both Allure and Harmony before I sailed Oasis. Other than the upgraded restaurant choices, I would prefer either of those to Oasis. I sail Wonder in Jan, so I cannot quite compare. But there are enough similarities that you won't be disappointed, at least imho.
  20. I have to agree with @WAAAYTOOO. I have sailed enough that most ports are a meh for me. On an eastern/western Caribbean itinerary I am pretty much staying onboard, especially if the casino is open. My last 4N in April I didn't even get off for PDCC.
  21. CK will be your best option because it will be open fairly early. I think Parke Cafe and SB won't open until 11:30 or later.
  22. Also keep in mind that casino comps are often specific. So, you may not be able to change the dates at all without paying full price.
  23. So, the drinks you can get a la carte is not most things from the freestyle machine. If she drank Shirley temples or apple/orange juice yes, that's easy. But Hi-C is not something they keep stocked outside of the freestyle machine.
