  1. I agree, it is depressing. To make matters worse airfare from Calgary to Florida is more than double than to Texas and hotels are 2+ times more expensive than in Texas. I wish there were more OA/QN class options from Texas. I have to make a decision on a hold by tomorrow and I honestly am not sure what to do.
  2. There is a SIXT car rental on site that was very convenient as we drove from MCO. From hotel to port we took a cab. Hotel is nice. Club level was overcrowded during our stay.
  3. Oh I am so glad to hear the parties were a highlight of your trip! And yes Berty found pics from Facebook. When Berty was telling me that MJ would be starting his first genie contract, I learned that they have worked together on several contracts and were friends. MJ took a similar career path as Berty and is lucky to have him as a mentor. Glad you had such a great week with your family.
  4. Haha, my weakness was popcorn so that was my go to snack at night. I love the flexibility star class gives when it comes to snacks. Especially being able to arrange snacks/meal after a shore excursion.
  5. Yay! I am so glad you got Berty. You are in for a great week with him. Not sure if I mentioned but HM genie’s don’t deliver random snacks to your room. It is by request. I actually prefer this because we are not big snackers and when we are we want something specific. I know some people like to be “surprised” by in suite snacks so if this is something you like you can arrange through Berty. Otherwise you can request as you go along. Feel free to ask any questions.
  6. Oh I am having plenty of talks with myself; a little voice is telling me to release the hold I have on a star class suite over Christmas 2024. I agree, the policy should apply to “no shows” which would still allow flexibility for some last minute changes. All these “little” changes can reach a point where people look elsewhere.
  7. We are the same, plus Playmakers. They are great lunch options. We really missed them on HM the last couple cruises.
  8. Love them but I find it is easy to exceed baggage weight limits because they are so efficient.
  9. Yes, we loved the game! And so nice to catch up. What are the odds of running into you at the game? Two random meet ups; one onboard Oasis and one at an NFL game. Too funny
  10. I asked what our genie preferred in pre cruise communication. On Harmony he preferred his tip through our onboard account. He brought the form on day 7 and all I had to do was complete the crew name, position and amount. The form needs to go back to them to complete their details. I folded up the form, put it in his card and gave it to him that night at supper. By the next morning the form had been processed and the tip amount showed on our onboard account. Very easy process for me.
  11. Haha I took a different strategy and was blunt and to the point. I am considering a defection to The Haven ….. what words of wisdom can you share.
  12. I received a second follow up call on my feedback; this one from a supervisor in the shoreside team. Much like the call from corporate the disembarkation process was the first thing she wanted to discuss. Both had me walk them through the old process vs the one we experienced last week. While she was interested in the rest of my feedback, I got the impression the disembarkation process was the primary reason for the call today. She said it would be escalated so time will tell what happens.
  13. That’s great. As much as the loss of the flowrider perk has annoyed me, our star class session was more like a private session for Lindsay too. When he arrived there were 2 other people which quickly turned into 1 and then it was just him. 1-2 other people is ideal as it lets him catch his breath in between turns. lol
  14. I agree. I told her I found it hard to believe CBP cares about 10 star class rooms that may use a porter to disembark on the guest gangway vs the crew gangway. After explaining the old and the new process she understood why star class guests are annoyed and promised to escalate it. Time will tell.
  15. Berty mentioned MJ would be taking on his first genie assignment in January. He is very excited for him and will be a great mentor to MJ. He said that he and MJ go way back, both taking a similar path to getting to their current role as a Genie. Excited to hear about your experience.
  16. Update on my email to corporate I received a call earlier today thanking me for my rave on Berty and letting me know it’s been forwarded to Berty and his manager. We spent the remainder of the call talking about the areas that fell short; she was particularly interested in the disembarkation process. She committed to escalating the things we discussed but who knows what corporate will do. I told her changes can sound good at the corporate level but fall short at the guest level. She noticed our upcoming star class this summer in Europe and asked me to stay in touch with her as she would like to make it right with some promotional OBC or similar. We will see what, if anything happens.
  17. I mentioned that Berty preferred his tip via onboard account vs cash. For those interested the process was very easy. He dropped off the form and asked me to return it to him so he could complete the crew member details. All I had to complete was the crew member name, position and tip amount. I folded up the form and put it inside the card we gave him. By morning the next day, the tip showed on my on board account. Very easy process. Since the move to Galveston there is only one company they can use to process their cash. It sounds like fees are considerably higher than in Florida and thresholds for cash are smaller per transaction. So for now this method works best.
  18. I hope to do a B2B one day. I imagine it’s a nice feeling knowing you get another week.
  19. I felt the same about the Gift on Anthem and we disliked Spectra too. Spectra was so loud.
