  1. I was wondering about that. My gut was telling me simple stuff like a bag of chips or nuts might be ridiculously over priced on the ship.
  2. I often carry Nuun tablets with me. I think they are a little "better" for you than Gatorade and they are tablet form so you can carry them easily and pop them in a bottle of water. I do triathlons and many of us use these often. Might be a good option if they do not have Gatorade. You can find them at some grocery stores and places like REI and Dick's Sporting Goods.
  3. Reading through the live blog and checking the website and I see people bringing "snacks" on board? What's the "snack" policy as far as what do they consider "snacks"? I tend to like a square of dark chocolate at bed time... I also like almonds as a healthy option versus chips or such. I was wondering: 1. What kind of "snack" stuff is already there (I'll be on Grandeur if it makes a difference) that's complimentary? Cheese & crackers? Nuts? etc. 2. If they tend to not have snacks but more meal stuff, if there a policy like with the non-alcoholic/bottles of wine as to what you can bring on with you? Just curious. I hadn't really thought about it but I often bring my almonds and dark chocolate with me when I travel. I am 152 days out so starting to think about packing and planning and such. I know that probably seems like a long ways out to some folks but with my life and how busy I am, I need to grab pockets of time such as over the holidays when I am home a bit to get that stuff done or I get overwhelmed at the last minute because I have run out of time.
  4. The roast beef looks delicious and I love the "snack mirror"!!!!! Thanks for all the detail. I am enjoying reading along.
  5. I'll be sailing Grandeur in April 2020. I am curious to know how big/nice the showers are in the gym as compared to the staterooms. I'll be sharing a stateroom with a gal pal and am considering taking showers in the gym so that we are not both trying to get ready at the same time in such a small space. I am with you on the lounging and reading. I already have a stack of books for my suitcase. I should probably consider going the e-route to avoid dragging a library of hard copies with me Looking forward to following along!
  6. I used to live in Miami. If you are foodies, definitely try some Cuban food. If you can find an authentic medianoche sandwich, I highly recommend. (It uses a different bread than a classic "Cuban" sandwich but otherwise very similar). The Biltmore in Coral Gables is gorgeous. I used to take art lessons there and my mom and I would enjoy a nice lunch. And, the Fontainebleau was a lovely place to go see and have lunch. They are fancy hotels but I recall their food being good and it was so pretty and grand that a young girl might find it beautiful to see if she is into art or fashion kind of stuff. The beaches are nice but as an aside, last I was there, South Beach did allow for topless sun bathing. This does not bother me in the least but I do recall one woman tourist who showed up being highly offended by this and rather vocal about it. Just a heads up you may see that. I have never had a problem with my own daughter seeing that in context as on a beach and "this is how some people do things in different parts of the world" but I know other parents would prefer their young kids to not be "exposed" to that. They weren't clothing optional or nude but many of the ladies did go topless just as an FYI.
  7. Can y'all share where you order your custom door magnets from?
  8. Thank you! I am still trying to wrap my head around how that works. I have it on my phone at home but it doesn't always seem to work.
  9. This is perfect! Thank you all for confirming for me!
  10. I have a question about the Surf & Stream "1 Device" package. I am allegedly on vacation for my cruise but some of y'all know how that goes. I have already purchased the S&S 1 Device package as I saw it for a nice $13.99 although I am still keeping an eye on it as I have heard some have seen it as low as $11.99. I do not plan to deal with work email BUT there are a handful of situations where I might have to in an emergency. The question is: if I have the 1 device package, I assume I can log my personal cell phone off the network and log my work iPad on in the rare instance I need to check email? Then I can log that off and back on with my personal phone? I've already cleared it with my business partners that IF I need to be online/email for an extended period of time doing actual WORK then I just pop down to where ever you purchase things and use my work expense account to pay for a second device (or however that sorts out, net net, work will cover if I need that). Just wanted to make sure I understood correctly. "1 Device" means one device but I should be able to alternate which device I use?
  11. Thank you to everyone for soothing my concern. It took a few hours but it was back to "normal" tonight. Whew.
  12. Thank you. I tried that and it's still there so I'll just take a deep breath and not worry. Much. ?
  13. Thank you. I needed that reassurance right now.
  14. My cruise is booked for NEXT APRIL 2020. I just was checking my cruise planner which has it at 184 days left (nice, thanks for the count down) and when I clicked on the button to plan my cruise and tried to look at the shore excursions while I sip coffee, it took me to the next page with giant letters saying, Important Update: Due to your cruise vacation departing within the next 2 days, you can no longer purchase / reserve / modify / cancel products online. Please feel free to browse and view your schedule. You will be able to make additional reservations / changes once onboard. Um. WTF? I am fairly sure I am not cruising until next April (2020)... please tell me this is a glitch and should get sorted out? Even at the top of the excursion page it says, "Your 7 NIGHT Bermuda Cruise - Sailing On Grandeur Of The Seas - From 24 Apr 2020 - 01 May 2020"
  15. I'd share that I have zero desire to cruise on any of the ships that are like amusement parks on water. I don't want or need water slides or zip lines or any of that. I am probably in the minority but there has to be more than one of me that is okay with just sitting quietly and reading a book while I sip a drink. There has to be more than one of me out there but probably not many so they leave the smaller ships to us folks who actually avoid slides and zip lines and all that. I have nothing against them personally but it's just not what I want when I cruise. I'd like to think they realize there are still a few of us left around. Let me have that illusion.
  16. It's $16.99 on mine today. But not sure it's really worth it to buy so....
  17. I found this couple's cruise vlog on You Tube and they had one entire video just of the MDR menus for each day and some pictures of what they ordered. I found it tremendously helpful to watch so wanted to share. It's "fairly" recent (May 2018). Grandeur Of The Seas - Main Dining Room Dinner Menus & Food - 9-Day Itinerary May 2018 - ParoDeeJay
  18. My first Royal Cruise was 11 years ago. Three weeks before my x decided to become my x. The cruise was awful. Why? Because all I remember from that cruise was him being drunk, a jerk, and not wanting to do anything at all. His drink of choice was "Grey Goose Martini with Six *&^%$ olives". Six. Never understood why SIX? To this day.... if I hear anyone say "Grey Goose Martini..." I cringe and hear in my head "with six olives". This December marks 10 years free of my x. I wanted to celebrate with a "do over" and in 217 days, I board the Grandeur of the Seas (same ship) and I will indulge in all the cruise ship vacation fun and experiences that I wanted to do all those years ago but instead listened to a drunk jerk complain for seven days. I am going to go do all the things and take excursions and dance and see the shows EVERY night! I am going to have so much fun and I am going to do it right this time! ?
  19. LOL I'll remember I can fit a body under there in a pinch! Thank you! And I also hope for good weather!
  20. Thank you all! I usually carry the big pair I have (I guess they are kind of "office size"). I use them to cut KT Tape (so I don't want to borrow guest services and get theirs sticky). Sounds like I should be good if I check them! THANK YOU!
  21. I am in the middle of packing to head out for a business trip this afternoon. I was just making sure I had my KT Tape and scissors (I am driving so no worries about TSA or flying). When I fly, I pack my regular size scissors in my checked bag with no problem. Suddenly wondered what the cruise ship policy on scissors is? Can I put regular size scissors in my checked bag? How about nail scissors?
  22. I only have one and a small rolly bag for onboarding. That one should sit in the closet fine and is small!
  23. Oh there's a clever idea! Hadn't considered I could stow it "open face" ! Thank you!
