  1. I'm sorry, I know this has been hashed and rehashed a thousand times, but I think the more I read different posts and other sites even, the more confused I get. I have down what I am bringing for myself, but now am trying to help my adult son prepare (I am basically buying his cruise wardrobe as his christmas present, lol). So, as I am shopping online today, I am trying to nail down the 'bottom line' for him. So , is this correct...: He can wear khaki pants and a polo in MDR or other restaurants at night for dinner on casual nights and look appropriate, but then on formal night in the MDR, he could wear maybe like a pair of blue slacks and button up shirt and look fine? Would he really need to wear a tie for formal nights in the MDR, or say in Chops?
  2. I picked MTD.... so i guess that really doesnt matter either way? Right now it is set for 2nd night... i guess I will just leave it then.. when is the second formal night... is it the last night or 2nd to last night? We will just try to make it to that one...
  3. I bought the Chops+ one package for our Harmony cruise. According to the rules of this , you go ahead and make the reservations for the Chops meal on either night 1 or night 2. At first, I had picked night 1, but then I got to wondering if that was a bad idea since there are the safety drill things, and getting luggage and all that on day 1, and so I changed it to night 2. Then I started to wonder, if we would be missing out on something if we chose to go on one of the MDR's formal nights..? Can someone give me some advice of what would be the best thing to do here?
  4. haha!! You are awesome, you sushi rebel you! I appreciate that tip..and i might just follow suit...... I love sushi, but am very particular/picky about it... whereas my son will eat just about anything they give him as far as sushi...(i like to call him a seal )... I particularly do NOT like anything eel related... maybe its partly just because they are creepy, but I don't like eel at all! I tend to stick to the tuna...salmon... shrimp...crab... and veggie creations lol About how many people are in each class??
  5. I am intrigued now about all of the comments about how great the Indian food is onboard ..... something i never would have even thought of... i guess I will have to try it! lol
  6. @DDemuth oh cool! thanks! yeah, my son can put away some sushi... so he would love that its 'a lot'.... is it mostly making the basic sort of thing like california roll... or do you make up kind of fancier things? with sauces and all... sounds fun!
  7. Has anyone done this sushi making class? Was thinking about booking it on Harmony for me and my son (who is 23)... just curious how it is? I assume its held in the Izumi restaurant.....
  8. @sk8erguy1978 thanks for the great advice, I will do exactly that!!
  9. Just so everyone knows, I just used the makeup store as an example... because i remembered seeing that there was one... I will NOT go spend money in there..i PROMISE.... I am an ULTA junkie, and so I buy everything i need there! haha ?
  10. @sk8erguy1978 , so basically , put a CC on file with the ship... and then have cash for tips, the casino and shopping in port...?
  11. When you go into one of the specialty shops onboard ... like the high end makeup shop or candy shop or handbag store... do you take your cash or credit card directly into those stores and pay for the stuff.. or do you shop with your Seapass thing in the stores too? It might be a dumb question, but haven't been yet, and people always say that you use that card for everything, but i thought, surely not when shopping in a name brand store or whatever...?
  12. @JLMoran these photos are fantastic... especially the one of the old guy on the steps who fussed about the tips.... that photo is awesome!!
  13. @twangster ahh, those things all do make sense... and I will say that the last place I want to be is somewhere where 21 yr old's are power drinking... so curbing that is definitely a good thing!
  14. @tiny260 i think this is just a little bit overboard, myself.... I know that they are trying to keep people from cheating them by sharing the alcoholic drinks..but geez...
  15. @JLMoran ... makes sense i guess.... actually , i had wondered, since I bought the Refreshment package for my first sailing, for 20 per day... if they also watch what i am doing and figure i will go for that pkg for my second sailing too...and so they will not be so quick to offer me the 20.. because they know i probably want that one again... meanwhile.. both sailings are offering me the same DBP price of 52.... I plan to drink on both cruises, but i just don't think i will drink more than maybe 2 alcoholic drinks per day... and on the first cruise, my aunt who is my roomie is a non drinker... and the second one... my son is not very big drinker either... i know he wont have more than 1 or 2 a day either... so i think Ref Pkg is the right one for me both times...
  16. I am super confused about the drink pkg sales and how they work.... I have two cruises in my cruise planner. My first one, which is Anthem for NYE... i have a Refreshment Package, that I got for 20 dollars per day a couple weeks ago.... in the cruise planner, on that cruise, my offer today is 52. per day for deluxe drink pkg.. and 20 for refreshment package. My other cruise is on Liberty about 13 months away.....and on that one, it is offering me the 52 dollar deluxe package, but the refreshement package is still (and never has waivered from) 28. per day!! I wonder why they are never offering me any refreshment sales on my Liberty cruise ..only deluxe pkg sales...
  17. My drink package offers have not changed yet today... ?
  18. @Galveston Steve Another question for ya.. if we do decide to just take an uber or shuttle over to the island the night before and stay at one of the nearby hotels... is it easy to get an uber to take us the couple miles down to the port... or maybe even a shuttle by one of the hotels (we would pick one that offered that for sure if some do...)... or are there any close enough even to walk (dragging our luggage) over to the port terminal? ? thanks!
  19. thanks for adding this here... that confirms my original thought@Galveston Steve , that i might stay my first night in Webster or wherever this Bay area where the mall and restaurants are, that was suggested earlier...but I think i will feel better about going on over to the island like a mile from the port for that final night... i do not want ANY added stress on this trip!! Being a mile away from the port is worth the extra money to me!
