  1. I know that it's tough to make very large batches, but I've had it at many places where its cooked in large amounts that still make it well, so they really don't have an excuse. I too make a really good creme brûlée. Not only does the cream steep with the vanilla, I add orange zest as well. So good!
  2. I forgot to mention, there is a great brew pub in Portland that shouldn't be far from the dock called Gritty McDuff's. They have great food, including poutine. I have a shirt from there that says "The drinking shall continue until morale improves". I'm still trying to find that improved morale.
  3. It's too bad my cousin is getting married next weekend. We totally would have made a trip to Boston to say hi!!. Have a great time. We loved our 2br suite on Liberty. We never thought the aft superstructure was that much of a big deal. If you are in 9708, Johnny apologizes for the stain in the carpet, and hopefully they go the smell out.......
  4. The same perks as any other suite on the ship except, an officer is supposed to escort you onto the ship, and you get a welcome bottle of champagne. Here is a link to the different perks. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/what-are-the-benefits-of-the-suites-program That being said, the room is huge, with a nice big balcony so if that's your thing go for it. I'll be in that room for a B2B in April.
  5. It's like he is on his first cruise ever such a noob. (a habs fan wouldn't make that mistake) you guys look great BTW!!
  6. I can see why. I'm a big watch guy too, but so far have managed to avoid the Invictas. I do drool over the fancy ones in regalia, and other shops. I blame my brother. He has quite a few watches that cost more than our Star Class cruises.
  7. I don't think I will know how "to cruise" when we go without our kids in April.....I'm so used to planning the day around them that It will be such a change to not have them there......What am I going to do with all my free time?
  8. hmmmmm, lets do some deduction here......its a sea day........you were a flowrider widow, which means you were unsupervised for a bit......do I need to get my calendar out, or is this one we already discussed? because that looks like a next cruise envelope to me.....
  9. Happy Cruise Day!!! I'm not a Disney/Star Wars fan as well, but like you said, I can see they did an impressive job there. I'm glad you guys had a good time. Will I ever go? Probably not, thankfully my kids aren't big Star Wars fans either. Keeping The Boss out of Magic Kingdom....thats a different battle.....That I lose...
  10. Its funny how this topic got resurrected, especially since I participated in the end result!
  11. I am so late to this party. Life has been so crazy I have not had time to peruse the blogs for weeks, and this is what I come back to!! @Lovetocruise2002 first off, Happy Anniversary, I'm sorry that it started out with such a stressful journey to Florida. At least you will have a nice week on the ship to recover! Reading all the pre-cruise stuff on packing had me laughing so hard. I'm like Justin, I can pack the day before we leave in about 15 minutes. It take The Boss much longer. She loves her new Beis luggage BTW, thanks for the suggestion. I really look forward to reading along for the rest of your trip.
  12. Another vote for Maya Chan here. For Roatan we always use Bodden Tours. They offer fully customizable excursions and their prices are very affordable.
  13. We were on Oasis in February and this was the same for us. We were told, and I actually prefer it this way, that this was to cut down on food waste. On our previous star class cruises a lot of the snacks got wasted. We did arrange to have a standing order of fresh fruit and some cookies delivered each day, none of which went to waste. This seems to be hit or miss, and will probably always be inconsistent based on staffing, previous guest departure times and your arrival time. We've had two star class cruises where the room was not ready when we boarded. The most recent one, the room was ready when we got on the ship. We also had inconsistencies with the luggage. I will second what @AshleyDillo said as far as other expectations. I will add that on my most recent star class cruise, I booked Izumi in the CP beforehand so I could guarantee the time that I wanted, but inadvertently booked the wrong day. By the time I realized it, all the slots were filled. In the pre cruise communication I got the "I can't guarantee" response from the Genie about moving to the time I did want. As soon as we were on board, and we were shown our schedule, Izumi was moved to what I had requested. Our bridge tour was run by the Genie, but we did have the opportunity to talk to the bridge team after. We were only allowed access to just one bridge wing. The galley tour was about 5 minutes long
  14. Hoverboards and "sports gear" are listed in the prohibited items. It probably wouldn't be a stretch for them to deny the E-Bike based on that, especially with the numerous battery fires that have been linked to them.
  15. I think we were turned off by the mayo with the calamari, and I believe that Heather got the lasagna and did not like it one bit. I did get the lamb chops and those were good. I think we here hitting coma status too so that probably didn't help.
  16. My first impression of Jamies while on Anthem was not good. I may have to give it another try when I'm on Harmony next February. @Lovetocruise2002pictures and descriptions are giving me second thoughts. I will still refuse to to eat the calamari with whatever sauce that Jamies serves with it though..... We do the same thing. Must be a NJ/NY thing......Friday is pizza night in our house. We order the wings from one place, salad from another, and Pizza from a third. Thankfully we are in a small village and they are all on the way home from Johnny's TKD studio where he has a class Friday evenings. I now make the wings myself though too
