  1. Hi all, my husband likes to take his portable radio with him (just a normal FM/digitial one) when we go on holiday. Will it work in our stateroom? We have a balcony stateroom.  Just wondering, as I've seen posts saying that walkie talkie radios don't work well due to the large amount of metal on the ship and thought we may have same problem with a radio

    Thanks everyone !

  2. Thanks for great reply KLA.

do you know what happens with kids? I think it says we have to book them at full price then we get refunded the difference between that adult price and kids price in the form of an on board credit.  But what is unclear is how much we will be charged for the kids, one thing I read said $10 and something else said they be charged half of adult price. Any ideas which is right? And lastly, will the kids get to eat hibachi food? Our kids are big foodies and will want to be eating hibachi like us. Thanks again.

  3. We are heading off on first cruise later in the year.  We have two active/sporty kids aged 9 and 10 who will definitely want to attend the adventure ocean kids club.  I know I will have to get them registered once we are on board but do we get a "heads up"  on what activities are running each day, kind of like a cruise compass just for the kids club.  Or do we just have to go to the club and find out what's on that day? I'm hoping we can look a day or so ahead and plan when they want to go.

Also, do you have to pre book them into sessions?

    Thank you.

  4. Hello again! A Hibachi experience has popped up as a dining option on my pre cruise planner, it is around £35gbp.  Can anyone tell me how this works 're what's included for that price (I know drinks aren't but we have delux drinks package which I think will cover the drinks?).  Some other dining options say you will get a $30 credit towards your meal but I'm presuming this isn't the case with the Hibachi or it would not be a good deal!  I've looked at the menus and items are priced individually.  Help!

    Thanks

P-S is Hibachi not included as a speciaility restaurant within the dining packages, e.g the first 2 nights BOGO dining deal?

  5. Hi again all, Can someone explain what the story is in regard to onboard Entertainment in the theatre please.

Am I right in thinking that the main show (think it is Grease on Indy) only runs a couple of nights during the cruise?  (we are on a 10 night cruise) Will I be able to book to see the show prior to boarding or do I have to wait until on board, or is it a first come first served with no reserved seating?

What happens the other nights when the main show isn't on?  Are there other shows to go see in the theatre?

Thanks again to all you helpful experienced cruisers out there who keep answering my probably stupid questions! ?

  6. Hi again all.  I've booked the 2 night BOGO dining package for my upcoming cruise. (Dining must be on first 2 nights of cruise) Am I right in thinking that RC will book us into 2 speciality restaurants and then once we are on board we may be able to change the restaurants ?

Should I do this as soon as I get onto the ship and how do I do it?

  7. Thank you all SO much for your replies, this is a great weight off my mind.

This blog site is brilliant by the way. I've asked "dumb" questions on it previously and everyone is so helpful and nice!

My husband often posts questions on a DIY site and the responses he often gets are rude and nasty.

Well done everyone on here, you're a great help to us novice cruisers

  8. Hello everyone, we are booked on an Indy cruise later this year. It's our first ever cruise which we have saved hard for and I'm now getting panicky about a few things.

Current worry is that our balcony will have restricted views.  We have booked a spacious balcony stateroom on deck 7 (7668) at the aft of the ship. I picked it as it seemed like a good deck, not being over or under public areas, but I have now discovered from searching around the web that aft balcony cabins more than often have restricted views and I'm very worried about this.

I'm not expecting to find anyone who can give me exact answer on my specific cabin but has anyone had a cabin close to this and can advise? I'm thinking about changing the cabin.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

  9. Hi again, we are sailing on Indy next year and whilst we are on the cruise the rugby world cup will be taking place. Due to time differences this will mean that the games will be televised early in the day. E.g 7am, 8am etc. Will playmakers screens be on at this time of day? Is playmakers the only place on board that are likely to show matches?

  10. Thank you! "Lovetocruise2002". You have given me some peace of mind. We chose Indy because we have 2 boys aged 9 and 10 and we wanted to make sure there was lots for them to do. (So we can get a break) so we are fully expecting an action packed holiday for them but were alarmed that we may not be able to find anywhere on the ship for us to relax! Thank you for putting my mind at rest!!

  11. Hello, we are/were very much looking forward to our first every cruise next year on Independence of the seas, but are becoming concerned at recent reviews that suggest the ship is suffering from overcrowding since the addition of extra cabins earlier this year. Some reviews say it is almost impossible to find a quiet spot to relax and have a drink. We are now worrying and even considering cancelling our holiday. Any views from you cruisers out there who may have cruised recently on this ship. Many thanks.
