  1. Sounds about right, it's going to take a few years to get back to normal.
  2. Interesting they are doing some South Pacific from June.
  3. The only one I can see that could be a possibility is Spectrum. It's due in Shanghai Jul/Aug/Sep, although I'm not across the current state of cruising in China, other than they lost Wonder to US and Spectrum to Singapore. But there is still that 3 month gap where it's supposedly back in China?
  4. Yeah or that I guess. So first ships on the scene will most likely be P&O? Tempted to book first one.
  5. Can't confirm but I read that South Pacific is out for some time still due to low vaccination rates in the region. I think there is potential for Royal to cancel the season and redo it again with a heavy focus on Aus only. Like they did for 2021-22, although that never went ahead in the end.
  6. No real specifics but this is all I can find on the outcome of today’s meeting…
  7. Pretty sure it's always been that way. A lot cheaper in the US, so long as you are willing to travel that far.
  8. My guess is we wont get an Oasis here until Lelepa is ready. Then it will be an Oasis in the summer, plus maybe a Radiance as well. Also a Quantum year round. A Quantum here year round was planned for 2022 before covid hit. It was on the Sydney port schedule out of Sydney all the way up until Jun 2022. Lelepa was originally due to be completed in 2022.
  9. Need to fast forward another year and a half. The Aussie cruise market is going to be red hot. Virgin are sending Resilient Lady to compete with Celebrity Egde. Royal better send Icon so they are not left behind! haha
  10. It sure is going to be interesting to see what restrictions they come up with here for the restart in the coming months. I've been at a resort in Queensland this week (should have been on Quantum), but masks and social distancing was basically non existent, no one is enforcing the current rules. The experience was not much different than pre-covid. No doubt cruising will be unfairly targeted though. From your experience in the North do the current protocols there detract from the overall cruise experience a lot?
  11. A handy 18 C&A points, but 331 is depressing! I just got home from a land holiday in Cairns/Port Douglas. Should have been on Quantum this week No didn't quote it, it's not a big deal, just paid the deposit again.
  12. @ChiliHa, they denied me on an Ovation for Jan 2023, cancelled and rebooked at new price. It seems to be enforced inconsistently. I also book on the website and sometimes when you call they are happy to reprice and sometimes they say they wont. I feel like it depends on who you get on the phone. I always book with refundable now so I can just cancel and rebook the same room. Only downside is paying the deposit again, but they have been returning within a few days lately.
  13. Same infection went on to kill an otherwise healthy person on the other side of the family who didn’t take it seriously enough! Don’t need evidence, its just logical that wearing a mask and distancing will reduce the potential for exposure to some degree. So yeah it can’t hurt to at least try and protect some people. We weren’t out to try win a mother of the year award. I’m sorry you find it foolish. But if it doesn’t affect you personally, then the problem doesn’t exist? Am I right?
  14. Cruising ban extended by another 2 months, but can be ended at any time once protocols are decided on according to P&O. Looks like there is at least some momentum now for a restart. I'd say the 22/23 season for Royal Caribbean is looking pretty good as we are still 8 months away.
  15. Take what literally ever other country has already done. Shouldn't be too much to think about.
  16. It's not real, it's just someone's concept drawing.
  17. Carnival pulled their ship from Brisbane until October 2023. Guess they've had enough.. can't really blame them. The other from Sydney is only until Sep 2022.
  18. I'll counter the above. Had household family members with Omicron. Applied simple measures like wearing a mask in common areas, washing hands regularly. Guess what? Didn't get it. Simple measures like this work..maybe not 100% of the time but they do help. Also, masks don't just stop someone spitting on you, they also prevent you from touching your nose and mouth (which we do more often than we realise) after touching an infected surface. Anyways, back to cruising. 2 years this week since the ship ban. Life sucks in Australia.
  19. There are heaps for Spectrum - 24 dates It's not going to work until they drop the testing regime in Singapore, currently too restrictive to make it worth it.
  20. Why market this to Australians then? I'm confused, I also thought it was possible with testing. Something must have changed.
