  1. I love it when someone spells “moot” correctly!!!!
  2. Docking and disembarking are 2 different things. The ship must wait for Bermuda authorities to clear before you can get off. And there is no hard and fast rule as to how long that might take. Everything falling in line, yes you could be off in plenty of time. But any number of glitches could affect this. So the answer is, maybe.
  3. Maybe but my car won’t be covered in seagull poop if I’m in the garage as opposed to the open top level or the overflow area.
  4. I agree $25 per night THEN I have to take a shuttle too??? Park at the terminal. Save time and money.
  5. Well glad you enjoyed it Neesa! Not sure I could justify the cost.
  6. $390?? For how many people? Sounds pretty expensive even for an all inclusive.
  7. Looks like you’ve been on enough RCCL cruises to know better.
  8. And BTW, although I don’t expect OP to return, we are booked on Explorer in October. If, as you state, you are both disabled, the amp wouldn’t do you much good anyway as it usually means adding water slides and other physical activities which you might not be able to use AND the cruise fare will increase as a result too.
  9. Have you no trip insurance? When is the trip? Might you be covered under Cruise with Confidence? Can you move to a ship more to your liking? If you booked when the amplification was being advertised, it was clearly prior to Covid and probably CWC eligible. Did you book yourself through Royal? If so, call and ask what options you may have. If you used. TA, call them. Complaining here will do nothing.
  10. Not necessarily “break you financially” but for many a cruise is a significant investment requiring a lot of saving up for a once in a lifetime (or at least once in a very long time) vacation. To lose all of that due to unforeseen circumstances might not break them but would certainly be a sad waste of funds for which insurance could afford some protection. Really the same could be applied to any type of insurance, people don’t carry collision coverage. So if you can’t afford to replace your car, you shouldn’t have one? Not sure I see the logic.
  11. Thank you all, looks like the consensus is….. they are all terrific!
  12. I used that email and got the answer I needed in a week.
  13. People move on. I expect it’s pretty difficult to have been a travel agent over the past few years. I wish her nothing but the best. I have had my issues with her but I do think she always tried to do right by us.
  14. My agent let me know she will be leaving MEI in a few months. Asked if I’d like her to set me up with someone new. I mentioned Sharla or Michelle but she said neither were accepting new clients (true?). Anyone else have an agent they like? She mentioned someone named Melissa?
  15. We are booked on Explorer out of Miami in October but all the jr suites are gone. He’s got to use the FCCs by mid-May. I was looking at Brilliance out of Tampa but I want a promenade instead of a centrum.
  16. Showing my age here, anyone else remember Paul Harvey? As you have all been so kind and supportive through the trials and tribulations of my brother’s attempt at his first cruise, wanted to fill you in on the final outcome. 1. Royal refunded port taxes, fees, prepaid gratuities and DPB. 2. AON insurance issued FCCs for 90% of the unrefunded cruise fare. This was confusing because they issued 2 FCCs but he only received 1. They are reissuing the 2nd. 3. SWA returned the points used for the cancelled flights and gave them $650 in LUV anytime vouchers. So in the end he had to eat 10% of the cruise fare ($177 we had a very suite deal) and the cost of the insurance ($148). We are now looking for another cruise to book. I will take one for the team and go too (the things I do for my brother). I won’t ever be able to recreate the deal we had on Harmony but at least he got what I consider reasonable compensation for his ordeal. Thanks to all here, my RC family!
  17. Can I ask who your carrier is?
  18. Can’t speak for now. In March, we were on the second level and there were lots of open spaces. People were reporting doom & gloom back then too but we had no problem arriving at 10:40. It was a Sunday sailing on Harmony.
  19. Well I wanted to let you all know the end of my brother’s saga. Aon Ins issued FCC for 90% of the unrefunded fare. At first the amount looked wrong but he was finally able to contact a supervisor who told him the FCC was issued in 2 parts (where have I heard that before??) and he never received the second one. Together they total what I expected him to get. I won’t be able to take him on the cruise deal we got on Harmony but at least we can go somewhere together. Thanks for everyone’s sympathy and encouragement!
