pattywac
I originally had a sky level suite booked for 4 (me, husband, daughter and grandson), sadly my husband suddenly passed last month. This left only the 3 of us on the ressie and I debated what to do. Instead of cancelling, my 2 other adult kids said we’d make it a family trip of 5 instead. B/c the suite only sleeps 4 and no larger cabin was available, Royal went beyond and booked the 2 of the kids in an interior; in doing so they linked the reservation to mine. I was told this would allow the 2 in the interior to eat in coastal kitchen with me. Does this give them the ability to be with us on show seating, boarding, etc. I bought them the key just incase. Sorry for your loss I would say be careful. A lot of times the phone reps will unfortunately give out bad information. They are usually pretty strict on if a person is not staying in the suite, they cannot access coastal kitchen or take advantage of the suite perks. With children under 12 they may make an exception, depending on the party size but not with adults. They will have no issues boarding with you, having the Key will help with all of that. pattywac
Turns out I called RC to ask and was told the CK privilege, which I had been told on 3/4 was ok, was now denied on 3/7 with no recourse (of course had I not called I would have learned of this upon boarding); the reason was b/c CK couldn’t accommodate an extra person. This was supposed to be a special cruise for our family to make up for our loss, instead it’s turned into another heartbreak.

I believe the boards and FAQs give better insight. The rules states that people not staying in the suite cannot get CK access. I believe if it had been 3 people staying in the suite and one person staying in the interior, they would have accommodated you. The tables are set for odds and not evens. So three people would still need a table for 4, making it no big deal, but you need a table for 6 and they would rather use that table to accommodate a suite/pinnacle party of 5/6. pattywac
I just wanted to post a quick update. Royal Caribbean stepped up and more than took care of the problem. Apparently there was a glitch, it wasn’t caught and I’m very satisfied with the solution. pattywac
Let’s just say they have went well and beyond to make up for all of the confusion; even further than just the dinner my family had hoped to eat together. The problem was caused by a miscommunication snafu that escalated. I’m very pleased with the outcome and glad to see a company step up; to be honest I never expected anything beyond family dinner but they showered us with an few items that made us feel like royalty. This has been a very challenging month for us, and it made my heart happy to see a ray of sunshine after spending the last 4 weeks in a dark place. This cruise has been the only bright spot to keep me going, and I will welcome 7 days to escape reality and share time with my family. Thank you everyone for your feedback in resolving this issue. Sail on!
