Hi

im a first time cruiser sailing on the NoS in September when we arrive in our first port (Gibraltar ) I was intending to buy some duty free Gin,it's my understanding that they take it off you when you re board the ship is this correct  and is there a limit of what amount you can take onboard

regards

Depending on the ship you will either have to pick it up the last morning or they will bring it to your cabin the night before.  As far as I know, they don't have a limit but customs might want to have a word with you.   I've bought on 6 bottle once, worse part is carrying it off.  Gets heavy standing in the lines.

As others have said, it will be held until the end of the cruise. When you come back onboard and go through the security screening, there will be a table set up to tag and store your purchases. There's no limit on how much you can bring onboard the ship, but you may have to pay duty based on the exemptions allowed at your final (disembarkation) port.

Nothing like a glass of Hendricks gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber if available.  Oh yes it gets very heavy lugging around all that liquor.  We did a family  cruise years years ago and both kids each carried off a box for us.  The policy states per person and did not state that they had to be of legal age.   Should you meet some folks on the cruise they might assist you carrying off extra liquor.  Been there done that.  Also you can bring 2 bottles of wine on board to enjoy in your cabin upon embarkation. Enjoy the cruise and welcome to cruising on Royal Caribbean.
