Main Dining

First time cruiser coming up!! Is the Main Dining all you can eat? Can you order multiple item for each course?

As with most things, it depends.  Officially, a number of months back, Royal announced that it would only deliver 1 main course at the time; if you wanted more than 1 main course, you can get it (with the exception of lobster tails...no complimentary seconds on that one) but the second main would be delivered after you completed the first one.  That lasted maybe a month....and slowly but surely, the servers have been more obliged to deliver multiple mains at the same time.  Recently, this has not been a problem at all for us...but some may still encounter reluctance to serve multiple main courses to the same person, at the same time.  You have always been able to order as many appetizers, sides and desserts as you desire and that has not changed.  I have found that if you tell the server that you want a second main course to share with your dining partner (which in our case, is actually always the truth), they are more apt to bring it than if you just say that you want more than one for yourself.  Another exception that seems to work is if you tell them that you are creating a "surf and turf" and therefore would like your steak and lobster tail delivered together.  Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.  It really just depends on how strict the dining management is about enforcing the "one main at a time" edict that came down from headquarters some time back.
