Transportation from Civitavecchia to Rome and back

How do you get transportation from the port to the Vatican museum entrance in Rome and back from the historic city center to the port? I am cruising mid-October.

You can get a train from Civitavecchia to Rome Termini and vice versa. It's very cheap (we were about 10 Euros for 2 people). Rome Termini is pretty central. Recommend using Omio to buy train tickets as other sites charge more in fees.

I booked a driver on daytrip.com It was a little pricey ($100 each way) but very convenient. Pick you up right at the port.

One note on the train (which we have used and enjoyed) make sure your day doesn't land on a Holiday or strike day. Second tip for Rome - if you use taxis to get around City Center make SURE they turn the meter on - it's not unheard of for them to not turn the meter on and therefore insist they don't take credit cards, cash only, and offer to drive you to an ATM. They all take credit cards... but if you do pay cash use small bills if at all possible. Also "skip the line" tickets are a must.  Good luck!

We actually were sailing from Rome so we used them from our hotel to the ship and back to our airport hotel after the cruise. They also ran our shore excursion that we booked through Royal in Naples to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. All of our experiences with them were amazing.
