RebN
We're on Symphany of the Sea leaving from Rome on May 25. One of the ports is on Sunday, May 28. Only 2 options are available on the RC website. Is the port close enough to just get off the ship and shop or do we need to go to tripadvisor and find an alternative? You absolutely do not need an excursion in Barcelona. You can walk up to the bottom of the Rambla in about 20 minutes. If that's too far for you, there's a port bus for a few euros and plenty of taxis right outside the door. Barcelona also has a pleasant city beach and promenade. Note that the taxis will be very busy up until about 9.30 as this is also the main embarkation/disembarkation port on this itinerary so lots of guests will be disembarking with all of their luggage. This will be a good day for you to plan on having a leisurely breakfast and get off a little bit later, rather than getting caught up in the mayhem of departing guests and their bags. I have used this site for research in the past: https://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/ramblas/barcelona-las-ramblas.html ChessE4
ChessE4
I was amazed that even a bakery took credit cards, but I would take some Euros. We enjoyed walking around the cathedral.
wordell1
We did the same last year on Wonder and just walked around with no excursion. One thing to note is that many of the shops and the big market were closed on Sunday. We still had a great time, but just be aware. There are also some hop on/hop off buses that you could buy tickets for if you get tired. I thought they were overpriced, but served the purpose of being able to see more of the city.
