IGR
If one got the daily internet package, can a second device connect to the first via hotspot?
Ampurp85
No. Although I have read some people have found a work around.
mistertomatohead
Why do you say no? I've done this on Celebrity, NCL, and Carnival ships. My Samsung phone connects to WIFI and has the ability to be a hotspot through bluetooth which my iPad uses to connect to the Internet. Ampurp85
@mistertomatohead Have you done it on Royal? My Samsung phone can be a Hotspot but doesn't work on Royal ships that way. I have heard of someone being able to do it with a lot if workaround.
mistertomatohead
@IGRWhich ship exactly? I've never done it on Royal. I've only been on Navigator but I've avoided needing Internet so far. I have cruises coming up on the NCL Gem and Carnival Miracle which I will have Internet so I'll be sharing the connection again assuming it works the same way. SteveK
No doesn't work on Royal with an iphone.
smakl70
It will most likeyly work with the Samsung, I've done it with a google phone via bluetooth. Most phones, including iphones, have the capability blocked so it won't work. Very few phones allow it.
mistertomatohead
Try it at home first with your WIFI (not your mobile cellular since your carrier might be blocking it). It should rule out Royal doing something on their network specifically to block it.
Maggie M
We'll test it out this week on our iPhones on Navigator. But it sounds like it won't work.
smakl70
It won't work with iphones - they can't share wifi via bluetooth. Only a few Samsungs and Google phones have that capability. If you have an old Samsung or Google phone they can share with an iphone but the iphone cannot be the primary connection. We bring an old Google pixel since we have iphones now.
