Norovirus on Freedom of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hi all -- just came back from a Freedom of the Seas cruise, six nights 12/24 - 12/30.  Five people in our party came down with norovirus, all quarantined, was curious if there was a way to find out how many people on the boat got sick?  Were a few in the infirmary when we were there, and we heard people talking about sick passengers on other decks over the course of the week.

Not sure if you can find out how many got sick. I do know that after a certain number they are required to warn other guests. On my cruise in early December we got a letter in our cabin. Although days before we knew something was up when we saw the crew doing extra cleaning.

I'm wondering, how is quarantine? Do they deliver food and Let you watch movies? I know they are very sick just wondering if they still help you enjoy the experience. I can see people with symptoms but not totally sick get locked up.

Thanks for responding!  We didn't get a warning, but we personally got a letter apologizing for the illness and offering us a discount on a future cruise.  We also saw a lot of cleaning of elevator buttons and railings etc.  Subtle, but constant.  Quarantine is a little hard, but they give you free room service.  Movies etc were kind of dependent on what we were able to get in the middle of the gulf (not a lot).  But my daughter mostly slept.

Yes, I'm sure people get on who probably shouldn't.  But when we got on, our bathroom hadn't been cleaned at all and so I wonder how well the stateroom was cleaned beforehand.  Either way, the virus was a nightmare and bummed we got hit with it.
