Changing refundable to non refundable

I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you could change from a refundable deposit to a no refundable to save money closer to your sailing date. When are booked on the ovation in July( a jr suite and a balcony)and our final payment is due next month. How close to the final payment should I do it and is it worth it?

There's no guarantee that the current non-refundable pricing will be lower than the original rate you got when you booked it. Most times, rates increase as sailing date approaches so your July refundable pricing might be cheaper. You can always ask your TA or call Royal to see what current rates are. I would do it at least a week before final payment, so there's extra time to make sure the changes get properly processed and there's no concerns on final payment date.
