Shari
President Trump just announced that cruise ships may be made available for medical use during the COVID crisis. The ships would take on non infectious patients from hospitals to free up beds for the infectious patients just like the military floating hospitals are doing. He specifically mentioned Carnaval. twangster
Carnival has long contracted their ships to FEMA for housing. They tend to be lucrative contracts. When the hurricanes hit St Thomas two ships were contracted. They make significantly more on these contracts compared to selling them as cruises. Typically they just cancel any booked cruises. Carnival has a lot of older and smaller ships they typically offer for this so it makes a lot of business sense.
