luv2cruise61
We've booked an 11 Night Southern Caribbean cruise on Serenade of the Seas. All ports are new to us and we welcome any input regarding shore excursions! We'll be in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Colon, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; Oranjestad, Aruba; and Willemstad, Curacao. If you have any favorite shore excursions, please let me know! We typically spend most shore excursions on the beach, snorkeling, etc., but are open to other options, as well. *Sidenote: We prefer to book RC shore excursions only. On our very first cruise 20 years ago, we would've been left behind when our parasailing boat broke down getting us back to the ship. Luckily, they knew where we were and waited for us! twangster
Welcome to the message boards! Costa Rica will offer a lot of rainforest and related excursions. In Panama I would suggest doing something related to the Panama Canal. There are typically a few excursions that either go to the visitors center or through some of the locks in an excursion boat. This may not be a beach type excursion destination. In Columbia the old walled city is a great place to explore with a lot of history. Leave some time to explore the port nature area upon your return to the ship. Aruba and Curacao will have a lot beach or water type excursions. A sunset sailboat or sunset on the beach is a nice change in Aruba. LaKi, IRMO12HD and luv2cruise61

twangster
Here is a sample of what it's like going through the Gatun Locks near Colon. This was from Vision as she transited the full Panama Canal but if you book an excursion that goes through the Gatun Locks it will be similar just on a smaller boat. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/16344-panama--vision-of-the-seas-oct-30-2019/&do=findComment&comment=169003 My day in Cartagena: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/16344-panama--vision-of-the-seas-oct-30-2019/&do=findComment&comment=169354 This is Costa Rica on the Pacific side, so different from Puerto Limon but gives you an idea what the country is like: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/16344-panama--vision-of-the-seas-oct-30-2019/&do=findComment&comment=168077 I've got another cruise booked to Puerto Limon but it's a year away.
