Sean
I was assigned with an interior accessible stateroom even if I don't need one. Should I ask for a switch with a non accessible stateroom or keep it because larger than a non accessible? Any experience? Thank you! Matt
The plus side is there is more living space. The downside is potentially the shower is accessible, which means it's one of those showers that essentially floods the bathroom floor (by design). Some people don't like that. Atlantix2000
Since you said "assigned" I'm assuming you booked a Guarantee rate (the we pick your room option). They should only assign you an accessible stateroom once they are confident they don't need to hold those rooms for someone that needs an accessible room. If that was your reason for switching, I'd say don't worry about it. You do get more room to move.
twangster
I ended up with a JS accessible room on Serenade last month, obtained from a WS guarantee booking. One thing I didn't like was the automatic door. You had to let it do its thing since the door was motorized both for opening and closing. It wanted to keep the door open for a full 60 seconds after opening before it closed by itself. Attempting to force it closed was a lot of effort fighting the motor system. A minute might not seem like much but having your door wide open and your cabin accessible and on display for 60 seconds sure felt like a long time, especially when leaving to go somewhere. I chose a 6V category and I was expecting a selection of staterooms to choose, but I was told that in category 6V there was only one left, take it or leave it. When confirmed I realized that it is an accessible stateroom.
