  1. We are sailing on odyssey for new years this year. I see they offer a "holiday dinner" option at Giovannis and Chops for dec 31st. Will the restauarnt be closed to only serve people who purchased the holiday dinner? Or if you paid for reg chops meal for example can you dine on the holidays without the extras you get for the holiday package?
  2. Do you guys do anything different or pack anything interesting for a holiday cruise, whether it be for Xmas, New Years, Halloween, etc.? Let me know! I plan on doing a xmas cruise at the end of this year myself. I imagine there will be more kids on this cruise. Maybe i'll hide some xmas treats/toys throughout the cruise for kids to find. I just joined one of those hide a duck cruising groups on facebook, so thought that would be cute.
  3. Hello all, I am hoping someone can help us. My girlfriend and I have a cruise booked for Anthem of the Seas on Jan 9th, 2022. I came to learn that RC decorates their ships with Poinsettias for the holidays (please google Poinsettias if you are not sure what they look like). My gf is very allergic to these plants. I have been trying to research when exactly RC takes down these decorations. I've heard sometimes they take them down right after new years on Jan 1st, or whenever the ship arrives back in Port after Jan 1st. Anthem will be coming back from a Dec 31 - Jan 9 sailing right before we board on Jan 9th. My question for you all is if you've ever been on a holiday cruise, 1. Are the Poinsettias real? 2. When do they get taken down? I am hoping that they will be taken down when Anthem arrives in Port on Dec 31st. That would give us time for the ship to be aired out. If they are on the ship until Jan 9th, I am worried my gf might have a reaction on the first day. I called support about this and they couldn't tell me when the decorations will be removed, that it is up to the ship. If anybody knows how I could get in touch with someone that could give me more info or help, please let me know. Thank you, Tyler
  4. Instead of doing gifts this year, we thought a cruise would be a great way to get out of the hustle and bustle (and the cold) of our city just in time for Christmas. As a couple in our mid-30s, we are eyeing up a last-minute - at least by RCBlog suggested standards - Holiday sailing from Baltimore on Grandeur (8 nights w stops in Nassau, Perfect Day, Port Canaveral, and Charleston SC) We’ve never sailed on Grandeur, and we’re aware that she is a Vision Class ship that hasn’t been amplified or refurbished in quite some time. While we do understand that we aren’t getting the best in modern amenities as other classes of ships, that’s not to say there aren’t things to love about her. So.....What are your favorite things about Grandeur? Any tips you can provide to help us have an enjoyable Christmas Holiday sailing are greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Doug Previous sailings on: Enchantment, Majesty, Freedom
  5. We are booked on the Dec 2019 Eastern Caribbean Holiday Cruise. Christmas day will be in St. Thomas. What will be the difference between this Eastern Caribbean 7 nighter and other, non-holiday cruises? Just listened to the podcast episode on the New Years Eve sailing out of Galveston on LOS.
  6. Hello, I am new to the forums and this is my first post. I'm really happy to have found this group and all the information! I recently booked a 5 night Holiday sailing out of Galveston on the Vision of the Seas. It will be the first cruise for the 5 in our family ( myself, husband and 3 teenagers). I'm concerned because of the mixed reviews I'm seeing on this ship. I chose this sailing because of the port and sail date and because no one in my family has interest in the really huge ships.(strange I know) The main activity everyone seems to be interested in is seeing mayan ruins, and to have a nice family vacation. Im hoping for some input on my choice from experienced RC cruisers! Also, we will be in port New Years Eve and New Years day. Will any tours be running on those days? Thanks for All! Katie
