  1. Hi Everyone, Looking to make a reservation on Harmony. As much as I would love an ocean view balcony, its not in the budget. :( Has anyone stayed in boardwalk or central park balconies? Advantages? Dislikes? Recommendations? Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks! Mel :)
  2. We have booked a cruise on the Allure - so excited! We selected a D4 balcony cabin on deck 9. I am trying to figure out whether it has the bed by the closet or the balcony, and have heard conflicting info. Some people say to find the nearest connecting cabin, take the right hand room, and then alternate balcony, closet, balcony, closet from there. Others say that ALL triple and quad cabins have beds by the closet. According to method 1 we have booked a 'bed by the closet' room, and would love to have the bed by the balcony. According to #2, there's no point, since they're all the same. Would love to hear from anyone who has booked this category. Also, I have seen photos with the sofa bed open for the night, and it appears to almost fully block the balcony doors. True, or is there room to maneuver past and go out on the balcony? I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and like to go out and peek at the ocean, but don't want to squeeze past DD sleeping in the sofa bed and possibly wake her up. If the bed is by the closet, how much room is there between the bed and the closet? DH is 6'4" and want to make sure he has room. We have only ever sailed on DCL, so are used to larger staterooms. Thanks!
  3. So I read someone's comment that perhaps Oasis 4 will be going to China. You really think so ? I'm betting on Europe. What do you think ?
  4. Head's up, everyone who is interested in booking one of the 6 newly added Grand Suites in the Aqua Theater area of the Oasis and Allure. These are the 6 new Grand Suites that were added to both of these ships during their most recent drydocks (this is where the "hidden balconies" were before renovation). The stateroom numbers are 11330, 11730, 12330, 12730, 14330 and 14730. These very LARGE Grand Suites are going to be redesignated as Aqua Theater Suites. The Allure will change these rooms from GS to AS June 5, 2016. The Oasis will make the change May 7, 2016. The 4 biggest ones (11330, 11730, 12330 and 12730) are going to be category A3 which require a minimum of 4 persons to book. The smaller ones (14330 and 41730) will be a new designation A4 and will be available to general inventory, which means that you can book with just 2 people. I found this out ONLY because I was planning on booking one of these Grand Suites for my Christmas 2016 cruise only to find that they will be designated as Aqua Suites by then. The Club Royale agent and I backtracked and determined that the change-over from GS to A3/A4 will occur in May and June of next year. So....if you want to take advantage of booking any of these 6 rooms while they are still Grand Suites, I suggest you do so very soon. Word WILL get out that their availability as GS is limited and they will all be gone - poof ! Needless to say, the price on these rooms skyrockets once they go from being GS to A3/A4. The room that will cost just over $5K on Feb. 21 will be upwards of $15K once it is redesignated. Of course, they are doing NOTHING to enhance these rooms at all...they are just taking advantage of the fact that they are bigger than all of the other GS on the boat and know that they can charge 3 times what they are currently getting for them. Typical, right ? Of course, they aren't telling ANYone about this...even the RC sales agents didn't know about it. We all found out together. So slimy.
  5. Rccl has been a disappointment so far and we haven't even boarded the ship. Thru our travel agent we received spa treatments and specialty restaurant complimentary. Only caveat must be booked upon boarding. Received alert today coast guard inspection board by deck very late starts at 1:00. Our deck last 2:45. So by the time we get on board most likely will be unable to make spa appts and get a restaurant on a good night. I made other restaurant reservations for last night 8ppl 7pm only to find out after a total of 6 calls and many hours later that their system had a glitch and it would be fixed. No confirmation received when they said I would see it. I call again and it wasn't fixed and other changes were made. Now the time and table size no longer available. I did this in August. Their system failed they knew it and allowed cruisers to make new reservations. The website is awful always oops on vacation try again later messages. I have cruised on ncl , celebrity and carnival never had these problems. Really wanted to rent the royal connect phones too but by the time we get on the ship they will most likely be unavailable. Does anyone have suggestions?
  6. Below are my notes about our April 5-12 Oasis of the Seas cruise. Not a full review, just some observations. And I'm using some voice to text transcription software so forgive any grammatical errors. Background: this is our 11th cruise, third with children, aged 7 and 5. This was our first cruise as Diamond members so also forgive me for saying "as a Diamond member…" as many times as I can possibly fit into this post. :) T Minus 2 Thursday, April 4, 2014 Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Romulus, overnight and had a park and ride for $155. Late in bringing us to the airport the next day; always pick the one that is 1/2 hour earlier. Ate at Leonardo's, supposedly the "best pizza in the metro area". Not. T minus 1 Probably the worst travel ever. Late getting to the airport due to the shuttle's tardiness. Long lines. Did get through the TSA checkpoint faster by being a family due to the kids. Boarded plane…and was told delayed flight due to fog in Chicago. Left 2 hours late, missed connecting flight (despite staff telling us no planes were flying out of Chicago), and had to spend 12 full hours waiting at Midway airport due to being bumped from overbooked flights. Finally ticketed for a 4:30 flight, which didn't arrive until 5:45. Got to Ft. Lauderdale after 10pm. So much for my extra day in paradise. Never again will I fly Southwest. Ever. Spent $100 in crappy food for the four of us while stuck at the airport, wiping out all savings made by not flying a proper airline. Decided I will be using Choice Air from now on. So glad we flew down a day early, otherwise we would have missed the cruise. (oh, and it gets better, wait until the flight home…) Got to the hotel after 17 hours of travel that should have been 3.5. Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina, looks nice, room has a nice modern Oriental vibe to it. Very pricey though, a tad over $300. Wish I could have enjoyed it more, along with the pool area. Took care of some work tasks and went to sleep.
  7. Hello, we are going on Oasis on April 5th. We were wondering when we receive our paper work in the mail (luggage tags, boarding info, etc.). Do we even recieve anything other than luggage tags? Thanks for the help.
  8. Hello. We are sailing on Oasis on April 5, 2014, and on our SetSail pass, it indicates check in time at 12:30 PM. We thought this seemed a bit late, and we were planning on boarding around 10:30 or so. Is 10:30 too early? Has anyone that has sailed on Oasis had to wait until 12:30 to board? Thanks, Derek.
  9. Royal Caribbeans UK website has announced that from 2014 the Oasis of the Seas will be sailing from Southampton to the Mediterranean. You can book for her sailings now. In readiness for her arrival Southampton is building an additional berth to accommodate her. I can't wait to see her arrive at the port and even better than that is if I get to sail on her(here's hoping).
