European outlet adapter
Atlantix2000 replied to Cruiser70's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
The simplest way to sum up the rules is "Don't add power outlets". Single outlet power adapters (for voltage and/or shape) are fine. Multi-port chargers (USB/Thunderbird/etc) are fine. Neither of these increase the number of power outlets. -
The Bahamian government. It may be a private island but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to follow Bahamian laws including customs, taxes, dock fees, etc.

After you clicked that you wanted to select a room, the very next step would be actually selecting that room. Did you? If not, why did you continue through the booking process? The price is based on the room after all so it should have been clear by the time you got to paying the deposit that something was wrong (or that you didn't click what you thought you clicked).
-
I'm going to disagree. That product adds power outlets to the room which means it should be confiscated. It is small enough that some screeners might think it is just a power adapter and let it through. But I would recommend finding something that adds a bunch of USB ports without adding power outlets.

There's nothing to get fixed. You're getting what you paid for. Either pay more to get the grand suite directly or roll the dice with RoyalUp.

Motion of the ocean Alaska v. Bermuda
Atlantix2000 replied to mikeMTL's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
As others have said, you'll need to check the schedules to see if April is a possibility for either Alaska or Bermuda. It's not like cruising in the Caribbean where there are multiple options every week. Alaskan cruises tend to stay along the Alaskan/Canadian coast because the views of the coast and glaciers are the big draw. Bermuda is an isolated island well into the Atlantic ocean which means the seas will definitely be rougher when crossing that open water. -
Does Liberty have a laundry room self service?
Atlantix2000 replied to Cruisin Mom Jan's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Disney has self service laundry. -
It's not that you need a driver's license to cruise. It's just that in the US, the percentage of people that actually have a passport is surprisingly low. The size of the average US state is more like the size of most countries. So when we travel state to state (which doesn't require a passport), that's the equivalent of most of the world traveling country to country. The US recognizes that if passports were required for cruises, there would be an endless problem of US citizens showing up to the cruise ports and getting turned away unable to board. So IF the cruiser is a US citizen and IF the cruise starts and ends in the SAME US port, then customs will accept a driver's license with birth certificate. Of course, there's tons of reasons why cruising without a passport is a bad idea, but too many US citizens don't think of cruising as "real" international travel so they just don't get it.

@lindathepooh Any plumber will tell you that they make a lot of money fixing the problems caused by things that claim to be "flushable". Toilet paper is the ONLY thing that should be flushed ANYWHERE. And if you cause a backup in your cabin, remember there may not be an empty cabin available so you could be dealing with it for the rest of your cruise.

iMessage without internet package
Atlantix2000 replied to Cruise2488's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Various apps (iMessage, WhatsApp, etc) will work without internet due to a quirk of networking protocols that makes blocking them almost impossible. However, they work ONLY for text (no images/videos/gifs/etc). Also, these apps REQUIRE internet in order to login and to STAY logged in. So if the app loses its connection or just decides you need to log in again, it will stop working with no way to log back in. Some people have great success by connecting to free wifi in the ports to keep their connections alive. Others find themselves logged out constantly no matter what they try. So these apps MAY work for you but it's not guaranteed and you can't complain if it stops working because it's really not supposed to work. -
Hi ChatGPT user! Try to be less obvious next time.

Also consider the rules for children in their own room. Children without an adult need to be across the hall or next door to the adults. Normally, Royal doesn't care who sleeps where when you have multiple rooms (could even move around during the cruise). But if your rooms are not near each other, they would need to be booked with 1 adult in each room and they might also care about who sleeps where in that situation. Edited to add: It's still technically a viable option if the adults are willing to sleep apart.

Royal Cancelled My Reservation for no reason
Atlantix2000 replied to CruisingEngineer's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I'm thinking the refund but "instructed not to give a reason" suggests that someone in the party was flagged as being on something like the no-fly list. -
Crown and Anchor Benefits for Children
Atlantix2000 replied to AndrewOfTheSeas's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I mean, they'll get free drinks as appropriate to their level, but those drinks will be non-alcoholic. So no, you can't get free beers from your kids! -
No matter how many times Disney repeats they haven't banned ducks, that one blogger's story somehow carries more weight with people on the internet!

If you choose more than one guest, you are attempting to purchase more than one beach bed. That's probably not what you want. Only one person has to buy the bed, the rest of the guests just come along with that person (and they do not need to be named at the time of purchase).

You're asking about the a cruise that's 3 months away (or less) and that would have originally gone on sale about 2 years ago. Right around the date final payment is due, there will be a bunch of cancellations as people have to make that final decision. There are always random cancellations at any time because life happens. But yes, it's highly likely the category is effectively sold out at this point. Royal's website is known to not show every available room (so if there were 20 rooms showing, there might really be more than 20 choices if you called to book) but if it shows no availability, calling is unlikely to change that.

No Upper class suites on Voyager OTS
Atlantix2000 replied to Jaedensou's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Can you post a screenshot of the whole page? I just tried a few random Voyager sailings in 2026 and there are plenty of suites available. The website defaulted to a page showing a choice between "we choose your suite" and "junior suites". As Ogilthorpe said, I had to click through several more pages to get to the full list of suite types. The link was at the very bottom. -
post-cruise survey question
Atlantix2000 replied to happy cruisers 2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It's a really weird catch-22 situation. The survey is supposed to give them feedback on how to improve but they believe the only acceptable answer is 10/10 while 9/10 and below are all failing grades. That doesn't leave any room for honest feedback. The workers are afraid cruisers will think "this cruise was great. 8/10, would sail again" which will reflect poorly on them so they feel they need to tell you to give them that 10. But then the company hears repeated complaints about requests for 10s so they added the question about whether you were asked. It's a no-win situation for the workers. I think most seasoned cruisers will just give the 10 on the survey and separately give negative feedback (when appropriate) outside of the survey so it isn't associated with staff they like. -
I have a link to these message boards on my Chrome new tab page (one of about 10 pages listed there). I click on that link a few times a day (from work or home) to see if there's any activity on the boards. Sometimes, from the boards, I click the link for the home page and check out the headline of the first post. If it's new and I'm interested, I'll read it. But if not, I rarely scroll past it to see if there's more than one new post. I do also follow the blog on Facebook but don't actually visit the Facebook page. As I'm scrolling Facebook, I just see RCB posts in my feed from time to time. That's actually how I noticed that I was seeing posts there that I didn't remember seeing here.

Hey @Matt, there's a feature I've always wanted for the homepage and I'm wondering if it is possible (or if it already exists and I've missed it). Right now, the homepage shows the full text of the blog posts. This means lots of scrolling or pressing "page down" lots of times to find if there are additional posts to read that I haven't seen yet. Currently, I see: May 22, 2024 I went on my first Royal Caribbean cruise and worried about big crowds. I ended up having more fun than expected. (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/05/22/first-cruise-royal-caribbean-loved-it-review) Full text of that post (21 page downs to get to the next post) May 21, 2024 7 bathroom hacks to use in your cruise ship cabin (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/05/21/7-bathroom-hacks-use-your-cruise-ship-cabin) Full text of that post (15 page downs to get to the next post) Etc, etc. the rest of the page takes 94 more page downs to reach the bottom where I can select another page. I would love to be able to see a list of the most recent posts so that a single screen could show me what I've missed in the last few days. Something like: May 22, 2024 I went on my first Royal Caribbean cruise and worried about big crowds. I ended up having more fun than expected. (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/05/22/first-cruise-royal-caribbean-loved-it-review) May 21, 2024 7 bathroom hacks to use in your cruise ship cabin (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/05/21/7-bathroom-hacks-use-your-cruise-ship-cabin) May 20, 2024 I finally got to try Royal Caribbean's faster Express Boarding. It was so easy, but not everyone knows how to get it. (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/05/20/royal-caribbean-express-boarding-review) I would bookmark a page like that and then I could easily find and click on the posts I want to read. It would also save webpage traffic because the site wouldn't have to serve up as much text and photos all at once. What do you think?
