  1. For us it is more about destination than ship. We can do the amusement park at home if we want! Our priorities are destination, cruise line (Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC), price, ship - ship is usually dictated by 1st 3. If merely get away trip - price & same 3 cruise lines. Those criteria usually get us too smaller ships. But, they are fantastic. Never been on a bad one, some just better than others. Surprizingly we found Enchantment OTS excellent, best staff & crew in all Royal experience.

  2. Yes, I would buy it. Although I haven't seen a packaged deal before sailing we have been able to get a package deal on 1st day. Rhapsody May 2013 offered Chops, Giovanis, & Izumi for $59 as I recall You could include Chef Table for $99. Because of that we are waiting to purchase specialty dining the day we board our May 2015 Serenade sailing. Don't want to pay in advance only to find out we could have got a package deal. Only downside is potential to not get reservation time desired but don't believe that we be a problem. 1) we are flexible and 2) have never had a problem getting desired reservation even when we have waited mid-cruise to book.

They did offet the packahe on embarkation day % discount.
  3. For the past several years we have not carried wine aboard. Very dissappointed with wine prices on last Serenade trip ultra high prices for average wine. $40 for an $8 bottle is exorbinate! Giving benefit of doubt as it was Med cruise, but suspect general price gouging? If so will lead to more carry on for them to deal with.

  4. You can make the reservations in advance of sailing as well. Can be adjusted/changed any day as you like. We have found 6:30 - 7:30 time frame limited, so suggest reserving as soon as reservations open up - about 75- 90 days out. Early & Late times very easy to get. We have found you frequently get same table & staff if reservation is similar time nightly.

  5. Get on social media, follow everybody & anybody associated with your travel accomodations. Take any & every opportunity to promote, brag, endorse their services to every one you know & the general public. Be tenacious, creative & wait for the perks! My results: pre-cruise Hotel Condes de Barcelona precruise stay this Spring: free upgrade to suite, complimentary wine, discount dining @ local restaurant -- $50 OBC from RCI. Current booking (not RCI), free upgrade from inside cabin to balcony -- 7nt Eastern itinerary in balcony for $299 -- pretty good deal, in fact best ever!

  6. My husband is a big eater.  When seeing pics of the meals they serve in the MDR, he commented he will have to stop at Windjammer too.  A friend told us he always orders two meals when he eats at the MDR on Carnival. Some times it is the same thing and other times he has two different items as well as deserts.    Is this allowed on Royal Caribbean?

I always tell new cruisers, "the hardest decision you have to make all week is what to have for dinner, but if you can't make up you mind you can have one of everything!" Trust me, you will not leave the MDR hungry!
