I do exactly what you do with taking out max amount and then paying off the bill lol. I love that its double points and I have no problem having a ton of cash I put most of it in my safe and since I mostly sail from Florida I just literally stop at the bank on my way home deposit the money and pay the bill.. Yes of course there have been times where I have loss too much and had to make up the difference but I still do like getting the points. I guess I will have to try the OBC redemption. I always used it for cruises I don't get fully comped but I could always use to gamble onboard.
-
I also have this credit card but I always use to the points to take money off the actual cost of my cruise. I am even able to combine it with Casino Discounts. Do any of you ever take the money right off the cruise fare? sounds like most people just get the OBC.

Unlimited dining package vs Costal Kitchen

Totally agree. I like having the freedom to go wherever I want to go. I will never eat in the MDR again. Just my personal opinion and choice but I find the food really bad. -
Unlimited dining package vs Costal Kitchen

I think this is such a personal question.. For instance I liked Coastal Kitchen but I am not In love with it like some people are. I personally prefer the dining package because I like trying all the different options. I think the food in the restaurants and CK quality wise are about the same I just prefer the ambience of restates in Central Park better to that of CK. If I were you and money wasn't a factor I would get the Unlimited and do both have lunches in restaurants and a few dinners in restaurants and then also a few dinners in CK. I am a big foodie so I don't ever have food overload from the dining package but then again I don't eat Breakfast because I don't like it so really I just eat an early lunch and then dinner.. So really it all comes down to your personal preference. Whatever you choose I do hope you have a wonderful time. Allure was my favorite ship until Symphony came out and its still my second favorite I'm sure you will have a great time. -

ahh ok that makes sense. Yeah I guess its a tough call. I like the unlimited because it includes lunches but I guess you have to run the numbers and see what works better for you. -
Yeah sorry.. Even on Mariner because it has hibachi no more hot rocks.. So yeah basically the rule is if they offer hibachi then no hot rocks. Thats why I am looking forward to Navigator because they still have the hot rocks.

Have you considered buying the 3 night package? That way you could mostly do CK but get to experience some restaurants as well. Oasis class is my favorite class for restaurants. I love Chops, 150 Central Park, and Giovanni's. Plus I really love the ambience of eating in Central Park. I have also had the pleasure of eating in Coastal Kitchen and don't get me wrong I enjoy that as well but I also find it fun switching it up a couple of nights. Just a thought of course if you want to stick with CK you totally can. -
depends on what ship you are on.. If you are on a Quantum or Oasis class ship they don't have the hot rocks anymore because they offer hibachi.

Do I book unlimited dining for my 12 year old?

I would email the same people you emailed the first time and ask this. The worst they could say is no.. I would also email the special needs department and explain your situation and see if that gets you anywhere.. -

just my opinion but I would pick Bliss for Alaska and here is why. Bliss has an amazing lounge called the Observation lounge. The views you get from there are unbelievable. For a Caribbean cruise the view doesn't matter so much but Alaska is all about the view and beauty of Alaska. Plus your going to want to do shore excursions and see Alaska so the boat entertainment is not as important. Jersey boys on Bliss was a great play its just for the Caribbean it didn't keep me entertained enough but for Alaska I would absolutely go with Bliss and I am very loyal to Royal I am diamond plus with 326 points but I am objective and for Alaska I would pick either NCL Bliss, Joy, or Encore whichever has the best deal.. -

Allure has all my favorite shows. You will love the entertainment. Its one area I feel Royal is superior to NCL and I like NCL and go on all their new ships including Bliss and I always say food In my opinion is better on NCL (I only eat is specialty restaurants on both lines) but entertainment is much better on Royal.. -

Yeah I live in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and we have these restaurants all over the place.. They are quite good but pricy. In my opinion Chops Grill and 150 Central Park are far better options.. I love 150 Central Park. They have a beef tenderloin that is delicious. I also really love Giovanni's. I had a sea bass that was to die for. -

I assume your going on Allure because that's the only ship with Samba.. I have been on Allure 5 times and at first when Allure was a new Ship Samba was delicious and I loved it. As the years have gone on I hate to say it has become really bad. If you really want the package just for that I would rethink that idea.. -
Do I book unlimited dining for my 12 year old?
AGSLC5 replied to Bmederson's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Yes if she wants to eat off the adult menu you need to buy her a package. The only way to get kid pricing is if they eat off the kids menu which trust me if she likes nice steaks she will not be happy with the kids menus. They are all just chicken fingers, burgers, and Mac and cheese etc.. -
No sorry they don't let you transfer packages to different guests even if they are your children.
-
unfortunately you have to be off the ship by 9:30 AM. In the US customs will not let the new guests board until all previous guests have disembarked. I know this is not the news you were looking for but maybe you could do something fun in Miami.
-
I know they have become really bad. It's such a frustrating system. I still like Royal but I have started to cruise on other lines as well just because I am not totally satisfied with the casino program.
-
Aww man. Well like you I always buy the Unlimited dining package so a free lunch doesn't help me. I really want to pick an officers brain lol.
-
Aww man this is unfortunate news. Ok well then I will have to lower my expectations greatly. Its too bad because I honestly it was the only "perk" I really was looking forward too. But it doesn't make me want to not cruise with Royal. Now the Casino program on the other hand that makes me pull my hair out sometimes lol.
-
I am a cruise nerd.. I am Diamond Plus with 326 points.. Here is what I am excited for.. at 340 points I get a meal with an officer.. I am praying I get this meal.. I want to pick that officer's brain like no other. So im just hoping they don't take that perk away before I get to 340 which I will be getting by Jan for my birthday cruise. Other than that I have no complaints.. I like that I get my nightly diamond drinks and I like getting 2 days of free internet. I don't really care about boarding quicker as I cant always make it to the port before 12 anyways due to work issues. I mean would I love it if they threw in a free meal at chops like how NCL does with Cagney's sure that would be great but because they don't that doesn't make me want to stop sailing with Royal. I think people are getting way to upset with this whole loyalty program. I cruise on Royal because I like their product. I love how innovative their ships are. I love the shows/entertainment on Royal, I love the casino, I love the Unlimited dining package, I love the solariums, and now I also love Coco Cay lol so I absolutely don't keep cruising with them because of their loyalty program to me thats just so silly. But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if the OP is done with Royal because they cant get on the boat fast enough ok no problem more room for the rest of us.
-
yes but Grandeur of the seas is one of the ships that doesn't have real room internet. Its still called voom but its slow. Real voom internet can only be found on Oasis Class Ships, Quantum Class ships, and Majesty. Other ships the internet is just not as fast but they still call it Voom

Unlimited Dining Package or Ultimate Dining Package
AGSLC5 replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Thats a good price.. I would take that deal.. Chops onboard by it self is $45-$50 a person.. I would buy the 3 night package and mix it up.. Honestly the MDR is just not what it used to me in my opinion the quality is just not as good. I still suggest going to it so you can judge for yourself but I would buy the 3 night package so you can mix it up and it would be fun. -
Unlimited Dining Package or Ultimate Dining Package
AGSLC5 replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
does your cruise offer the 3 night package? If so I would do that. That way you get to experience the MDR and some restaurants. Best of both worlds!!. Plus getting a 3 night package is much cheaper than paying out of pocket of the ship.. -
Navigator or Mariner for Bachelor party group in high 20’s?
AGSLC5 replied to teidy's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I agree with Tony. I would totally go with Navigator.. Yes both were just refurbished but they made Navigator extra nice.. The pool deck is so much nicer on Navigator, They upgraded the staterooms on Navigator, The water slides are better on Navigator and I agree Miami is a more fun crowd. Also I would not go with the Junior suites for $500 totally not worth it on a bachelor party cruise. Trust me you will only be in the room to sleep and shower so many other awesome places on the ship to go.
