  1. On the cruise lines I've been on previously (haven't sailed Royal yet) if you go to the art auction a glass of champagne is provided and is completely free. It's actually entertaining if you've never been to an art auction.

This is true on the Royal also. The Captain's Reception has free champagne too.

  2. Hi Everyone,

Looking to make a reservation on Harmony. As much as I would love an ocean view balcony, its not in the budget.  :( Has anyone stayed in boardwalk or central park balconies? Advantages? Dislikes? Recommendations?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks!

    Mel  :)

If you are a people watcher like me you have to go with the Boardwalk balcony. Did it on Oasis and have the same exact stateroom booked on Harmony 4/1/17.  Ocean view, Aqua Theater, and you can laugh at the people that chicken out on the zip-line. Most of the time is was peaceful but they is a lot to see.

  3. I've never brought hangers and have been fine, even on two week cruises. On a couple of occasions, I've needed more and simply asked the cabin steward and he/she provided them. To save space, I also tend to hang pants and shirts together. If you'd like to bring some just to be safe, any type will work and they won't delay your luggage if they're in your checked bags.

Juice boxes shouldn't be a problem, but carry them on.

Only the oldest ships might not have fridges. The Alkure does.

The type of bedding is indicated on the deck plans. Some cabins have a pull out couch, some have beds that pull out from the ceiling, and others only have the two regular beds.

Surge suppressing power bars seem to be the issue. If you can get a power block without this--just the extra outlets--you should be fine. Definitely put it in your carry on luggage.

They're pretty strict about kids being self-sufficient regarding using the bathroom. However, you can always explain the situation to the staff when you get onboard.

LOL I was thinking she meant the FOOD/SNACK Power Bar

  4. It's my guess it's actually the opposite: rather than them being able to determine from the scan what is in there, if they see anything resembling a beverage, the luggage gets flagged.

I'm basing that guess on the fact when we checked bottled water, our bag was flagged and I had to go to the "naughty room" to retrieve it.  The crew member opened up the bag, saw it was water and sent me on my way.

How close did they look because Vodka looks like water ;)

  5. Hi. I don't know if there is a limit but I can tell you that we booked a grand suite and 3 balcony rooms for a family holiday at the Next Cruise office and received just over $1,000 OBC. This equalled the deposit paid so, effectively, the deposit is free. This made it particularly worthwhile for us as, being from the UK, we cannot change a cruise or cancel it without losing our deposit. This way means we don't lose out in any event.

SO I'm thinking insurance may be the way to go in these cases.

  6. With the Next Cruise office. Is there an max dollar amount you are able to receive when book the next RC cruise.  I am going to be on a charter on Brilliance in Feb and want to book an Alaskan Cruise for 2018 and hoping with it being a charter we can get the credit for use on the charter cruise??!!

It is ultimately silly NOT to use this feature....if you can get a OBC of $500.00 on your current cruise buy putting a deposit of $500.00 on your next cruise. You basically wipeout part or most of your current sailing's bill.

    Thank folks  Mike T
