  1. We have. We also stepped out of the ship sponsored comfort zone for excursions and went on our own. Take a quick walk down the pier to the left (facing the city) and ride the $1 ferry over to a van stop. For another dollar or two you are there. The other route took the roads around and it was a thirty minute ride for our friends back to the ship. We took the lesser cost tour, and it was just OK. We've been to San Juan several times, so this was something different. We also got a bottle of their Limitada rum engraved with the sail date and ship. Neither of us would drink that in a decade, but it seemed novel at the time. .
  2. The kids ages are the deciding factor. For your group I would suggest Playa Mia. The water park area is much better. Mr Sanchos is a full on party from the minute it opens until the pier runners are back on the ship. My wife and I are over sixty, so we have been to Nachi Cocom at least ten times over the past few years and enjoyed every visit. If I were ten I would be bored out of my mind there however. I will also suggest don't take the but transportation option for Playa Mia (or any other beach excursion if that is offered) as you can grab a taxi and beat the crowd, stake your real estate for the day, tip the wait staff, get you drinks ordered and be relaxed before the throngs in thongs arrive. Have a great vacation! .
  3. If you have the option take the ride to town. There are some great shops all within a few blocks, and a beautiful church to see. Visit the Alaska Pure Sea Salt Company and bring a jar home. Their flavors go well with a few grains on grilled salmon. .
  4. The irony(s) of your comment and screen name made me chuckle. If someone wanted to ride with a stranger and there was push back please tell me you'd be there to say "what we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law." - Sheriff Buford T. Justice. .
  5. I've been on Cruise Critic for over twenty years and my wife and I went to one Meet and Mingle on Day one. For this forum do any of you have experiences doing this? It seems for a ship of this size it might be a challenge. What I will do is par down and edit the 2000 or so images I bring home from every cruise and post them here if there is a desire. Here are some from this summer. Quantum of the Seas. Ketchikan. Victoria BC. Seattle. Sitka. Juneau. I stopped writing reviews long ago, so I hope you enjoy these and ones to come. I would love to see your photo memories as well. I used a Nikon 7500 and Sony 6400 for this trip. For the Icon the shiny new Canon R6 Mark II. It was a treat to myself for finishing the ten month cancer journey and hearing the word "remission" yesterday at Baylor-St Lukes in Houston. Bring on the Icon! .
