  1. Hello, I see this post is pretty old. Yes, there are formal nights on Silversea but many people wear black tie etc. Personally we try to avoid these and just visit the buffet on such evenings. We always try to pack light!  Personally, I don't see the need to take a 'penguin suit' for just one night!  BUT some people really enjoy this! 2. We were on Beyond last year and had a great time. Truly a beautiful ship but we felt somewhat underwhelmed by the food in the main restaurant. The evening entertainment was amazing with some goosebumb moments from two of the vocalists. Altogether it was a great experience and I would echo the other comments on here about the speciality restaurants - very good indeed!

  3. I'd be happy to help here if I can. We live near Southampton and have cruised many times from there. In my experience, delays leaving the car park are always minor - especially when disembarkation is staggered. Security will be better at the cruise terminal too. I would opt for that and just ensure that you are first off the ship in the morning.

  4. Oh yes, we love to ski but the resorts in Europe are being massively affected by global warming and the snow season is much shorter. Since the 1980s it's amazing to see what a difference global warming is making. Many ski resorts are re-inventing themselves into activity resorts in Europe with walking trails, wellness spas and mountain bike trails.  Hopefully the human race can do more to slow down the pace of climate change.

  5. Hello, this is a really interesting question as we have annual multi-trip insurance but without cruise cover.  We simply buy cruise cover for when we need it (like 7 days) as it works out cheaper this way. I think cruise cover is important though as it covers you if you miss your ship on a port day (for travel to next port of call) plus repatriation cover and also compensation if you are confined to your cabin due to illness.
