  1. we ended up booking the ziplining!! looking at gardens is just not appealing to a group of very active adults and 7 kids!! we cannot wait, it looks amazing and got great reviews. it will also give us time to do some sightseeing. the inner harbor area/seals looked like fun!!
  2. Nice thing is you can check the weather forecasts right before you leave and adjust. if it looks like it will be warmer than usual, add some shorts. if it looks colder, skip the shorts and add another pair of jeans. etc.
  3. We will be on the same cruise!!! I am planning on the layered approach. bringing some fleeces, long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts. long pants and capris (and hopefully some shorts for Seattle (we will check forecast before leaving) - we are going a couple days early. lightweight/waterproof jacket with hood. and nice clothes for dinner. many pairs of shoes!! i am bring gloves and a hat. that is about it.
  4. you definitely cannot bring oxygen on a plane.
  5. Did his doctor clear him for a cruise?? I am assuming you are not flying
  6. On the Explorer - the Solarium pool is definitely NOT enclosed, it has no roof of any kind. some ships in that class have a retractable roof, but the Explorer does not. There is an enclosed hot tub in the gym area
  7. In our group, we will have a bunch of teens. 2 14 year olds, 1 15 year old and 1 17 year old. They would all like to hang out together in the Teens club. I see there are 2 categories of teens clubs 12-14 and 15-17. Will they allow the 14 year olds to go with the 15-17 year old group?? Not sure how strictly they adhere to the age guidelines. Thanks!!
  8. Just find a Michael Kohrs outlet here in the US. We have one here in PA. All bags are always discounted and a percentage off on top of that -- many times 50-60%. and some drop to clearance, with huge price drops and you still get the discount on top of that. I have go super nice/big Michael Kohrs bags for around $40.
  9. You should post this on Royal Caribbean's facebook page. I am sure it will be taken care off immediately. They hate bad press
  10. Drink of the day definitely is NOT included in the Beer and Wine package. It is just included in the Premium and Ultimate Packages. you would have to go up a package to have the drink of the day included
  11. not a fan of bisques - I will stick to the real thing!! bring on the crab legs!!
  12. Do not believe they actually serve them on the Alaskan cruise, but on my Alaskan cruise in June, I will be getting my fill of them in Juneau at Tracy's King Crab Shack!!!! They look amazing!!
  13. What was the name of the bar that had the shrimp out?? is that common on other ships as well?? Thanks!!
  14. I have been hearing rumors of theme nights on Royal Caribbean cruises (like Caribbean night, white night, 70's night, etc). I was wondering if anyone who has been on an Alaskan cruise before could give me some insight into the theme nights they had on their cruise?? I am doing the Seattle to Seattle cruise aboard the Explorer of the Seas, departing June 24th (80 days from today!! Can't wait!!!). Thanks in advance!!!
  15. hair dryers in the room are awful. If you have long or thick hair, bring your own. there is no issue at all bringing your own hairdryer onboard.
  16. Exercise classes are NOT included. you have to pay extra
  17. sure -- just buy a shot and pour it in!! that is all it is anyway (a shot per drink)
  18. On many RCL ships, they have started removing towels from saved chairs. they put a one hour tag on the chair, if after an hour it is still there - the towels are removed and the chairs are freed up for others to use. I hope all the ships start doing this. Chairs sit all day long with towels on them being unused. so unfair (but don't think I will have any problems with this on my cruise to Alaska !!)
  19. The hair dryers they provide are awful!! if you have long and/or thick hair -- bring your own (it will take hours to dry it with their hair dryer)
  20. Yes, that is what I stated above, I have already joined and am a pre-gold member. it is linked to my reservation. this question was just about whether or not there were any perks I could take advantage of being a pre-gold. and that was answered, no
  21. I am not sailing until end of June. I have my set sail pass, but I see nowhere on there that gold (or anything about C&A) is mentioned. I guess I will see what my actually ticket and sea pass say when I get them! Thanks all !!
  22. Priority check-in is listed as a gold benefit, as is a departure lounge continental breakfast. We are sailing out of Seattle.
  23. I am just signed up for Crown & Anchor. We are going on a cruise is late June. They said I was pre-gold since I have no cruise credits yet. Is there any Crown & Anchor benefits I can take advantage of at this point?? Like when we go to the port to check-in, can I use the Crown & Anchor lines?? anything else?? Thanks!!
